I'm in 9th grade right now and I'm taking French, but my younger brother is taking Spanish. It is not much of a difference in spelling, but I love the way French sounds. It is very smooth, connected, and very beautiful when you sing. In French you will not have to roll your tongue. Paris is known as a romantic place, so if you want to visit France someday you might want to know a bit of their language. There is also Quebec in Canada where people speak French. It is a very beautiful language and it's very enjoyable to listen to, even though you might not understand. In the end, it is really up to your own choices to decide which!

If it were me, I'd take Spanish. While French is an interesting language, Spanish is spoken by a LOT more people in the world today. French is a little harder, but not all that much, but the whole reason for a language is to communicate, so I'd go with the one that helped me communicate with the greatest number of people.

I'm in 4th-year French now, and I kind of wish I'd taken Spanish. French is nice, but I really have no inclination to go to France.... French is spoken in many places throughout the world, though - all throughout Europe, in many countries in Africa, and then on a bunch of random islands....
Anyway, they'll both be difficult to master (though the classes may not be for a few years), so you shouldn't let that affect your decision. What I would do is ask around with older students at your school to see which language has the better teachers.

More people speak Spanish than people that speak English. Even if you go to Canada you can speak English. Think of places you want to go on vacation to. Do they speak French or English. I took Honors French throughout elementary, middle and high schools and hardly used it ever.
I took up Spanish in college and became a Police Officer. I've been to Mexico 3 times, Puerto Rico 2 times, and the Caribbean 3 times. My investment in college was well worth it. I hope this helps you.

French is a little harder, but not that much... Take what you are interested in... I think Spanish is an important language to learn because we have so many Spanish speaking people in our country, and there are so many spanish speaking countries in the western hemisphere with us...but maybe you'll go to France one of these days and will need to communicate there...

Spanish is more useful since it is spoken in many more places than French. Also, it could help you land a job since so many employers want to hire people who speak Spanish. On the other hand, French is a beautiful language and many English words come from the French: rendezvous, tete-a-tete, and demitasse, to mention a few. Why not take one now and the other one in college?

You should take spanish. Not because it's easier, but because more places hire people who speak both spanish and english due to the steady influx from mexico

Depends where you live.
I think in the USA today, Spanish is more useful, and will continue to be more so.
