Ok so I was looking around this section of yahoo answers and I am surprised by the amount of people saying that people of these age are too young to date. Even worse, you redicule the very idea of them dating. Why do you think so? I think that some of us younger people might find it amusing and sad that some older people have yet to date. I do not want to offend anyone but some of us younger people might feel offended by this. Anyway, kids these days tend to be much more mature than you give them credit for. Explain why you feel kids around this age are too young to date. Thanks

To Forlorn: *Sigh* You really underestimate how kids of that age acts nowadays. You redicule children and their level of maturity without knowing them. Some could be very mature.

Oh yeah as a side note: Have any of you ever thought that since we naturally get thoughts of dating while young, does this not say that this is a part of being young and children? And please stop insulting the intelligence of children to those who are.

11-14 year olds are children!!! they don't have the maturity to deal with a "relationship" and any "dating" are just kidding themselves that they are being grown up!!! :D

If kids these days were more mature then there wouldn't be so many UN-wanted pregnancies. Kids having kids isn't a good start to life, and although not every 11-14 year old who dates ends up pregnant or fathering a baby many other unnecessary things may occur hurt feelings, diseases, etc. How long can relationships really last when your that young? Putting off dating is a good thing when your that young, you should just concentrate on having fun with your friends and not have extra baggage.

they ARE too young, 14+15 i would say is debatable depending on the people involved, 16+ its ok, the only reason 11-14 year olds want to date and have sex is because they think it makes them grown up, which it does not, it only shows that they are that much more immature because they don't know what dating should really be about (which is not sex and making out), at 11-14 kids are too young to be able to take such a commitment seriously
and by the tone of ur question u sound like a kid so please stop trying to act all grown up, it doesn't work and only makes u look younger, enjoy childhood while it lasts, humans are the only species on the planet that longs to be grown up as a child, but once it grows up looks back and wishes to be young again

You know, I just had this conversation with my 12 year old grandson. He ask if he could talk to this little girl (also 12) on the phone and e-mail. I told him if he got the little girls mother to call me and tell me if it's ok. She agreed and I agreed. Remember the song by Kanye West and Jamie Foxx called
18 years. It means paying child support for a child for 18 years----this
is so TRUE.

Next thing, it was going to the mall,
buying plastic rings. Two weeks after that A fake rose flower.

Believe me, I was aware of everything that was going on, so I
sat down and talked to him. I told
him no dating and the buying things is gonna stop. The little girl ws bossy and controlling.

Anyway, he knows that school is first and friends are second. He's great in baseball and Football. I want to see him get out of this town, go to college and become someone. He
can't do that if a baby pops up. He
sits and watches 12, 13, 14, 15 and
16 year old girls with baby strollers
walking down the street every summer , it's terrible. The girls parents are either in the bar all the time or on drugs staying up night long til the school bus comes to pick
the kids up. Most of these kids are
raising themselves and also their siblings. Also, my three grandchildren whom I raise, go toschool where sometimes they have to lockup their school due to gunshots being fired. It's just plain
worrisome. My boys are going to
college, I don't care what obstacles
stand in their way or mine. They are
OUT OF HERE. With Gods' help they are going to do very well--I asked him and it's done.

Because they ARE too young. They don't have the maturity AND are rushing too fast into adult situations when they are just kids. Not only do we adults not like to see kids blow off their childhood (because it doesn't last long compared to the rest of their lives) but WE were all young once too (believe it or not)...so we've been there...we've had the feelings, we've thought the thoughts, we've done the crazy things, etc...

We speak from experience and wisdom that come from our life experiences and those of others we know.

Yeah, it IS also odd to see a post by an adult person who has never dated. However most of us don't make fun of them just as most of us don't make fun of young kids wanting to date...we just express that it's too soon and there will be plenty of time for that when you are all more emotionally and mentally ready and prepared.

First of all, "kids" these days do not tend to be more mature than we give them credit for. I'm a tenth grader, and I think that kids 11-14 are waaayyyy too young to date. First of all, kids you all 11 don't know what true love is. First of all, when you're that age, your still having sleepovers and juicing on cut e guys in your math class..... you shouldn't be in a relationship, and kissing and making out and yuou know what. Secondly, kids that young should'nt be caught up in dating. gez, your still a kid, you should be having fun with all your friends, and being innocent.

11 and 12 year olds are too young to really "date". Going to the movies together is, whatever... They are not even out of elementary school. Puppy love is one thing, actual dating is just off the charts, IMO. 13 and 14 seems like more of an appropriate age.

Pre-teens are not mature. You guys still pick on each other at school, you are worried about your clothes, who your firends are, what activites your in just to be cool. You try to 'act' like an adult even though you look foolish trying. You don't pay your own way, you don't have responsibilities, and you don't know yourself yet. How many pre-teens go out of thier way to be friends to some one that could really use a friend? You are way too young

I oppose the idea of us not being able to date. I have been asked out serveral times, accepted them, and dumped them, and I'm only 12. Why do older people say it is ok to have a crush.. but we aren't allowed to take action?! I'm an A stuent, so it doesn't affect my grades. I, personally, consider myself a teenager, because I am mature enough to handle things like dating. Old people don't remember what it was like..

i think they are too young to get involved with someone so young...what does one know about love at 11??? And i think this is one of the reasons we have girls getting pregnant at such young ages, cause they think they are grown!!! Come on, you got your whole life to date and be in relationships, why the rush to grow up??? Enjoy being young and a kid while you can
