There are 8 ounces per cup or 16 ounces per pint, so 24 ounces is 1-1/2 pints. This applies to water or similar liquids. It's also true for _fluid_ ounces and pints. Ounces are actually a weight measure, so it's not the same for other substances. For instance, oil is lighter than water and flour is heavier than water. So, 1-1/2 pints of oil would weigh less than 24 ounces and 1-1/2 pints of flour would weigh more than 24 ounces, but both would fill the space of 24 fluid ounces.

In the UK there are 20floz (Fluid Ounces) to a pint so 24oz is one and a fifth or 1.2 pints
