YUP... a classic scam.

The check will arrive and they want you to western union the change to them RIGHT NOW!. (they may even take the car but usually they could care less about it).

In about a week the check will bounce (and the bank gets it from YOU not your new buddy in europe)..

and do you think you will be able to reach him/her?

Test them by teling them that you won't release the car or the change until 15 days after you deposit the check. You will hear a little arguement and then they will vanish.

check this website for both variations of the scam and some funny turnarounds (called 'baiting' the scammer).

www.419eater.com (419 is the penal code in nigeria for this type of thing).

BOTTOM LINE.... Hang on to your car....

No no no!!!!

Think about it logically... Cars are cheaper abroad anyway, hence the rising amount of importers in this country, why would anyone abroad go to the effort of buying a car from the Autotrader in this country.

This is a scam! Avoid at all costs

It is a scam..scam..their mo works like this. They will send you a stolen cashiers check, normally for more than you want for the article. then you are asked to cash it and send them the difference, the check clears so you think it is all legit, then you will get a call from the bank saying the check bounced, so you end up out of pocket...If you selling anything make sure you have the green backs in your hand! their checks are not worth a dime. Check out www.scamorama.com You will find info on all these thieves and fraudsters!!!

Be very very careful with this subject. You could easily get ripped off, watch out how they are paying for it. We sold a BMW this way, 3 months after the car was gone we found out the guy used a stolen credit card to do the transaction. Guess who had to give the money back.

Nobody offers to give extra unless there is a very good reason. I suspect that if you give your address and phone number that they will then ask for more information. I don't know the answer to your question but I would be very wary if I were you.

Possibly, maybe im a bit cynical but i always wonder why someone wants to give extra in the first place, normally you look to pay less. Also why would someone want it abroad unless its a car that thay cant get where they are. If i were you id avoid it.

Its a scam.

What they will do is deposit the amount in your bank or pay bankers draft. They will ask you to send the amount over the price back to them in cash with the person who collects the car. Then it will transpire its been a hacked bank account or a dodgy bank draft which will claim the money back. So your left with no car or money.

Only ever deal with people face to face with cash.

Definate scam, it happened to me. They will offer you more, usually alot more (in the thousands), then send you a money order for the inflated amount. Then when you go to the bank to cash in, they will want the extra cash back from you. Assuming the bank doesn't detain you for passing a counterfeit money order.

Sound's dodgy to me I would'nt do it to be honest

Just think why would hey want o pay the extra to get it sent abroad? when they could get a car from their country.

Sounds like a scam to me... just wait and the right buyer will come along :)

yes you are being scammed. what will happen is they will wnat you to cash the check and right away send the balance back to them and by the time you find out the check is phony it will be to late and you will be responsible for all the fees from the bank plus the original amount of the check
