okay well i broke up with this person for a stupid reason and since we broked up we both havent seen any one else and we have stayed close friends but i have noticed that the connection between us is still there and im trying to find the way to ask him if thinks we should give it another try but i dont want to just straight out ask him cause it will probaly just put him on the spot and i dont want to do that. so any ideas on how i should bring this up?

First see if he is dating anybody because if he is then frankly he has been over you for quite a while but it is you who isn't over him, then well you can say something like: i wonder how it would be if we were going out, i mean if it could have worked out and if inn fact you guys made the right decision. Good luck then, don't worry their is someone out there for you if it is not him.

You could, next time you two hang out, kind of be more open to seeing if the previous way you would snogg still works ...

With that kind of connection still being there, it seems very possible that the flame can be re-lit.

Go for it! Life's too short to always wonder what could've been. One day when the two of you are really hitting it off, make eye contact with him and see what you feel led to do. If you feel that spark, ask him.
