I've been working on a poem called "Love Is..." which my fiance stumbled upon the other night. The poem isn't finished but he read what I have so far, got a teary look in his eyes and told me I make it sound like he's an angel. I'd like to write something else to give to him on Valentine's Day. Guys: Would you appreciate receiving something like this from your girlfriend/fiance/wife? After he read the poem he was extra nice to me the following day ... I felt like it put our relationship on a really high note. All opinions welcome. Thanks.

Some parts are serious and others comical...

Love is when each kiss feels as special as the first.
Love is anxiously awaiting 3:07 AM ... the precise time his blazer rounds the corner of your street every morning after he gets off work.
Love is feeling right at home with his family, as if they were your own.
Love is meeting and holding his gaze and staring into his beautiful eyes.
Love is the first time you tell him you’re a virgin. His response? “We’ll wait 3 years, or as long as you want to.”
Love is when he tells you he wishes you were black so he could have bi-racial babies someday.
Love is when he tells his friends he cuddled you all night long, rather than ranting about whatever action he may or may not have received.
Love is waking up to breakfast in bed and lunch after you get off work.
Love is when he opens his passenger side door for you, partly because it’s broken and partly because he’s chivalrous, or so you'd like to think.

I think that's totally hot.

Seriously. For a woman to take that time and thought, to put it into words and on paper, is very flattering. To me, this can be one of the best gifts I can get from a woman I care for. It beats the hell out of a tie, new underwear or a giftcard to our favorite restuarant.

Personally, this has happened to me. Of course she did not want to be there when I 'discovered' the poem hidden in a book she had bought for me as a gift. Understandbly, it is laying out your heart and soul for someone and to be there if and when these captured thoughts are delivered could be devasting to the poet if they're aren't accepted properly.

What I did was buy a nice frame and put the poem up on my wall, didn't say anything, and let her notice on her own. One word...

Fireworks.

Knowing the person you love feels so much for you is the best thing in the world, letters are great cos they can be kept and especially if your partner isnt the most emotional speaker, when they write you somehting like that it means a whole lot. So go for it.

well that's a little tough to say. For me I would only pretend to like it. My wife buys me these long card full of mussy poams. My eyes glaze over and brain shuts down. I just end up staring at it and say aww that is nice. I am just glad there is no quiz about what it says.

It really depends on the guy. It also depends on what's said in the poem. Sorry for being vague, but if your guy was extra nice to you the next day, then maybe he likes it. One note, I wouldn't make a huge habit. Make it special, but don't make it often.

I most certainly would, the fact the a person would take their time to write you something like that is a very special thing that you should hold on to.

No. I have little affinity for poetry, to my detriment. Love letters though I like.

if he is sensitive enough to shed a tear then write another, if writing poetry is your way of expressing yourself then do it with out hesitation...
