Is it against Christianity? I mean, do some denominations accept it? I believe in Christ, and I love him very much, but I'm curious for my cousins sake. I do not believe gays and lesbians are bad people...

No it's not bad. And guess what? The Bible does NOT condemn homosexuals and does NOT consider homosexual sex a sin.

The passages in Leviticus (18:22 and 20:13), understood IN THE CONTEXT of the time and place, are not an admonishment against loving sexual relationships between people of the same sex but instead against sex as a form of domination and control. Besides, these passages are part of the Holiness Code which is not binding to modern day Christians (or anyone else for that matter).

The story of Sodom and Gomorrah was a warning against rape, inhospitality and xenophobia. The reason for Sodom's destruction is made clear in Ezekiel 16:48-50. According to Ezekiel, the sins of Sodom were pride, laziness, being inhospitable, neglecting the needs of the poor, greed, and idolatry (the worshiping of idols). Nothing about homosexuality is mentioned. If Jude 1:7 describes anything about the sexual immorality and perversion in Sodom and Gomorrah, it's describing RAPE.

1 Corinthians 6:9 was a mistranslation of the word "malakee". It's used elsewhere in the Bible to mean someone who lacks discipline or one who is morally weak, and never is it used in reference to sexuality or gender.

1 Timothy 1:9-10? Also a mistranslation. 1 Timothy was an admonishment against male prostitution, not committed, loving same sex relationships.

The words "physin" and "paraphysin" in Romans 1:26-27 have also been mistranslated. Contrary to popular belief, the word "paraphysin" does not mean "to go against the laws of nature", but rather implies action which is uncharacteristic for that particular person. An example of the word "paraphysin" is used in Romans 11:24, where God acts in an uncharacteristic (paraphysin) way to accept the Gentiles. When the scripture is understood correctly, it implies that it would be unnatural for heterosexuals to live as homosexuals and for homosexuals to live as heterosexuals.

you are so right to question this. I did, too, beginning about age 9, and by age 18 chucked the whole Christian thing. The haters who rail against gay people being sinners are choosing the scriptures they want to use to back up their positions. That's what a lot of "christians" do. The same "laws" in the old testament that condemned homosexuality also condemned wearing a garment woven from two different fibers, like cotton and silk. Condemned adulterers to be stoned to death. The bible describes what we now know as mental illness and epilepsy as demon possession. Keep an open mind, keep reading, keep questioning. Our world isn't any more mixed up than it ever has been. There were gay people forever, but it wasn't talked about. You're right, it IS mean. When I was a kid, growing up in the south, Christians used the N word like it was normal. Thank goodness things have changed.

Did u know that Jesus says there is no such thing as a good person not even one. God defines good by the ten commandments. All humans have broken these laws. ANd since u know Jesus u know the only reason we are going to heaven is because of God's grace not our own goodness or righteousness only God is good.

With that in mind I have had many christian friends tell me I should stop talking to my gay friends as well. Do i listen ? No. It does not line up with scripture to dump your friends or loved ones because they are sinning . Because if that was true Christians would be doing that left and right. Everyone sins.

Now it is true that in Lev. and Romans. Being Homosexual is covered in these chapters.

Do not be mistaken homosexuality is an abomination in God's eyes and anyone that tells u different is lying to you whether on purpose or not it is a lie.

U must love the sinner but hate the sin that is what Jesus does with u me isn't it? We must follow his example.

ANd do not listen to those on here who cite Bible passages and tell u that it is okay to be homosexual they are decieved and satan is using them as a vessel for confusion

here is a site that will combat everything they have to say it was written by a former Gay activist and theologian turned Christian. So he knows what he is talking about. Here are three helpful sites

Pray for your cousin. ANd i would recommend u guys view this site together if he is interested but do not force it on him let him know it is available. Know that homosexuals are hurting inside it is not just an orientation it is a very deep issue of pain.

In the Bible is says that being homosexual is a sin. But that's it. It's no more against Christianity than gossip. It's a sin, no more, no less. I personally believe that since everyone sins there is no reason that people who are gay should be singled out as not Christian or something. It just shows how Hypocritical some people can be. <><

Well, Jesus stated that God intended for sex to be between a man and a woman who were married in Mathew 19. And the apostle Paul defines homosexuality and lesbianism as sexual immorality in Romans 1.

So, yes, it is a sin. I don't know why some denominations accept it, but most do not based on what the Bible says.

No homosexuality is NOT bad. it's a lifestyle and romantic preference.

Christianity is in fact, NOT against homosexuality. it's only considered wrong by people who are close-minded and dislike something they're not used to.

if i were you, get closer to your cousin, b/c at times, it may seem like the world's against him/her.

Lady::from that list, are Christians committing violence and completely persecuting EVERYONE on it? do you see any other fornicator, or liar, being punished as harshly as homosexual people??

Sirius::the Bible can interpreted plenty of ways, if you THINK that the scribe is referring to homosexuality, that's your opinion. you can not decree that such a passage defines homosexuality as a bad thing.

Yes homosexuality is against Christianity and goes against what the Bible teaches. In 1 Cor. 6:9,10 it reads: "9. What! Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, 10. nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom."

So "men who lie with men" (or women for that matter) are not eligible for inheriting God's kingdom UNLESS they turn aside from bad and repent of their wrongdoings.

Gays and lesbians may not be 'bad' people, but their practices are. I have a family member who is also a homosexual. He's not bad, but he is sinning against God and going against what the Bible teaches us.

I hope this helped you out some.

Yes, many Christians do accept homosexuality as natural, but the problem is that they have so corrupted God's Word in order to do so. God's Word is clear, but because of their want of catering to the world's standards, they must accept it or seem intolerant.

The answer to your first question: of course not, it doesn't hurt anybody.

The answer to your second question: Some accept it, most don't.

The terrible thing is that in your mind there is a connection between the two questions. This is another example of the damage done to the world by religion.

They aren't bad people. Christians tend to fear what they don't understand. This holds true for most people, not just Christians. One of the many resons I became agnostic. I can't support a religion that would condemn a few of my friends just because they are different. You can't choose who you fall in love with.
