1 pint = 2 cups

2 cups = 16 oz (8 oz per cup)

that being said, 1 pint + 12 oz would be 28 oz or 3 and approximately 1/4 cups.

Yet another reason why America should dump its archaic, silly little measuring system and get with the rest of the world on the metric system.... recipes shouldnt require a calculator and conversion charts!! I hate it - I go to make some freaking Ranch dip and I cant figure out how many tubs of sour cream to buy because the container is listed in pints, but the recipe calls for ounces!?!?!?!

multiply number of pints by 16 to get ounces
add the 12 oz
divide by 8 to get cups

Technically you would convert the original amount to ounces and then divide that by 8 since there are 8 oz. in a cup.
