Of course your cat is worth keeping.
I have heard of mice traps that you can get that won't kill them. You can release it out in the woods somewhere.

Maybe try something like this as well

You probably wouldn't want your cat to catch the mice anyway. Nowadays many rodents have poison in them which of course if your cat eats the mouse it will have it as well.
Make sure to keep all your food in airtight containers or in the refrigerator. Don't leave dirty dishes on the counter or in the sink. Make sure to take out your garbage on a regular basis. If it's outside make sure it's in a tightly closed container. If you are having mouse problems in the house then it might be a good idea to get a tightly closed container for inside your house as well.
Make sure all the openings where mice can get into your house are blocked. Anyplace a mouse can get it's head through it can get it's body through as well. They can get through a space as tiny as 1\2 of an inch.
Put wire mesh over dryer outlets and caulk around all pipes. Check around window frames and sills - particularly in the basement.
Oh, and keep the cat. If nothing else they are good company.

I have 3 cats. One, agrees with your cat & thinks that mice and birds are just entertainment. My next one will chase 'em off sometiomes, but that's it. My third cat is a killing machine. She will kill any critter smaller than her (excluding domestic animals) We find remains everywhere.
So the problem is, if you do get rid of this cat, there's no guarantee that you'll end up with a cat that will kill the mice. Your best bet is, if you have a cat that you like & you can live with(some are intolerable) then, I would just start setting some mouse traps. It'll be gross for a while, but it's just as gross to go around and pick up mutilated carcasses left behind because they won't eat the head or tail etc...

Of course your cat is worth keeping!!! Not all cats are born with the instinct to catch mice, this is why mothers will bring mice and other animals to the young alive to teach them if they are allowed outdoors. If your cat had an indoor mother, it may not have developed that "instinct". Get some traps and be glad on the level that you don't have to worry about your cat getting worms from eating mice!

YES of course it's worth keeping. If you only have a cat in hopes it'll catch the mice, maybe you shouldn't own a cat. If you really love your cat, it shouldn't matter. Maybe your cat hasn't had the chance to catch a mouse because he can't get to them. Or maybe he just isn't a mouser. Since you have a cat, I suggest maybe getting a humane mouse trap to catch the mice. (you don't want to leave out poison for you cat to get into or a trap it's paw can get stuck in.)

well first of all you need to put your food where they cant get it...and is the only reason you have a cat is to kill the mice? not because you love your sweet, cuddly, cat? fyi...not all cats are mice catchers and i would never WANT my cat to catch mice because mice carry all kinds of nasty diseases and just think if a mouse has eaten rat poision and then your cat eats the mice your cat will die a slow and very painful deathy because rat poision is a terrifying way for a cat to die

Perhaps, your cat is wondering if YOU are worth keeping, being a human with rodents in his house. Cats can be very offended by some human living conditions. They are so self-righteous and judgemental, they border upon the racist. This task of eradicating such vile creatures as rodents from your shared domicile is beneath your cat's dignity. You, as being the one who raised it to have such high and mighty notions, should attend to the chore and understand herewith exactly who is in charge.

Yes, Some cats just aren't mousers so that is no reason to get rid of him/her. That would be like your parents getting rid of you because you didn't do what they wanted you to do...silly.
So buy some mousetraps and put peanutbutter in them and BAM you will catch some mice....
Good luck

Be careful which traps you use, what you use to bait them, and where they're located. My cat LOVES cheese and peanut butter. I wouldn't want your poor cat caught in the mouse trap!!!
