Head on down to Fraunce's Tavern on Pearl Street (lower Manhattan). It is the place where George Washington gave the farewell address to the Continental Army at the end of the Revolutionary War. It is fairly pricey ($30+ entrees), but there is no dress code and the food is outstanding. If you go there on a weekend evening, you shouldn't need reservations. Also down on that end of the Island is the South Street Seaport Museum, which is a fun diversion for an hour or two. You can also go check out the Trinity Church; it survived the September 11th attacks fairly intact, and the interior is beautiful. Battery Park is also in walking distance, that is where you can pick up a ferry ride to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Liberty State Park over in NJ. So right there is a days worth of activity all down on lower Manhattan. Spend another day at the Central Park Zoo and Central Park in general, another day for Times Square, 5th Ave and Rockefeller Center, and be sure to go hit up the museum of Natural History and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Greenwich Village is also a must go location. I am not sure what is still around there though, I haven't been up there in years. I am quite sure you will find tons of interesting stores, art galleries and cafes there, though. OK, I've rambled on enough. Have a great time!

It will probably snow in March. Make sure you do the empire state building at night as well as during the day but only if the outside deck is open otherwise it's not worth the hassle or the cost.
