I personally think it's God's little joke on us.
Baked salmon is tasty....but it still doesn't compare to a Twinkie!

The answer goes back to the survival of the fittest. Example: When cavemen had the choice between eating some fatty animal flesh or some leafy greens, the ones who loaded up on the fatty foods lived through the winter whereas the ones who preferred the other didn't make it. Hence the surviving cavemen passed on their love of fat to the next generation and so on. Its an inbred trait causing us to eat that which will keep us alive the longest.

Junk food taste better than healthy food, because of taste buds. We get accustomed to eating the sugar and salty things, so when you taste food that lower in sodium and things like that, it does not taste good.

Lots of fat and salt. The moral of this story is that the food gods are a cruel bunch.

Healthy food can be yummy... its just you have to rid your brain of certian... preconceptions. I love the Morningstar Farms Veggie burgers. They have a whole bunch of different kinds. They are really good, and my favourite are the portabella ones.

You are eating the wrong healthy food.
Do not mistake low calorie for healthy. They are not the same.
Ever have a nice baked Salmon? Very healthy, very tasty.

one reason junk food probably tastes so good is because of the high sugar, salt, and fat content of these foods; either way they are still bad for you, especially in excessive amounts.

Fat gives food flavor and junk food is loaded with it. "Healthy" food has little or no fat therefore no flavor. I assume you are talking about foods like Lean Cuisine?

Your question presupposes that the foods labeled "junk" and the foods labled "healthy" are correctly labeled.
I think the underlying problem is how we view food.
