Give yourself a bit of perspective. "Mental illness" .... illness simply means sick. A cold is a physical sickness, but most often does not cause a person (for an extended period of time) to be unable to normally do on a daily basis what they need to for living. Such as going to work, buying food etc etc.
So the stat. you have may be numbers in flux. That over a given period 1 in 4 people may be depressed and / or stressed out about life to the point that they ...........don't go to work ; let's say for a day....... (like if they had a bad cold):
I would say if you have 3 best friends and you are able to talk to them in an open and honest way and they are able to be a healthy support for you, that you are doing fine !!
Besides that, this is a very healthy forum & you have done a very healthy thing.

Well, there is also a saying by a wise man named Mark Twain, which was not really his name, but his saying rings true.
" There are 3 kinds of lies: lies, damn lies and statistics."
Statistics are far from facts! They are guesses with math probability.
You may be a person with mental health problems, but you may be hypochondriac. You hear things like this statistic figure it must be you and then your mind works to make you feel sick when you are really fine.
it is a self fulfilling prophesy!
most people with mental problems flock together so if your friends are normal, chances are you are too!
However, give it a few years, if your friends ditch you and you are alone with your cats, Then the statistic may have been distributed correctly!

That doesn't mean anything. There can be 4 people and all four of them are healthy, like if your 3 best friends are okay and so is someone else you know is too. Don't worry about it.

no that does not mean cause there are 4 of you that you have a mental illiness. remember most people try to keep their friends from finding out they have it, cause of how it is looked out, and that is wrong too. I is not different then having the flu, or an operation, cancer. and it is time people start treating people with mental illiness as they would treat anyone else with a different illiness. so don't worry you proably don't have it.

yeah , I thinks its 1 in 3 sometime in their lifetimes I think
be nice to people who have it cuz they could deal with it best if and when you have it I think
people are really scared of crazy people and going crazy themselves
especially Bipolar 2 with extremely acute euthymic symptoms that just won't quit
