Not quite. The love from family and other loved ones doesn't hold a candle to the love that God gives. We go to church because we are hungry for the Word and the Spirit. We can find it in our homes WITH our families, but it is nice to get together w/ others seeking the same and worship Him in one accord. That's why we go to church.

No, that is not true at all.

I grew up in a very loving home, no trauma, rape, abuse...
I was given everything I needed and earned everything I wanted.

I believe in God because I believe there is a higher power and I would like to believe that there is a God who really does love me as much as the bible says he does. It is my own choice, so my life has purpose and meaning and I can look forward to an afterlife that is fulfilling and wonderful.

Ummm...no, the people who go to church are those that understand they are imperfect and seek to be better. They both seek to be lifted up by others and to do the lifting. They also honor and praise Jesus, who is their salvation, by serving and strengthening the family of Christ. That being said, I do think there are some who attend church only for friendship or security, and although that is a nice bonus, it shouldn't be the only thing.

Everyone has inner need to be loved by God. God made us that way. We aren't complete until we are restored in relationship to God.

Some seek God because their parents didn't love them. Some turn to God as the prodigal child. They ran from home, spent their parents money on sinful living. Found themself in a pig pen and no money. Searched for God, and was forgiven, healed & restored.

I doubt that your theory would prove out. Churches are filled with very loving and loved people. There are far too many people taht attend churches to make that kind of a blanket statement about.

No, I turn to God because I HAVE been loved. The love of others is a reflection of the love of God for them.

It is more likely that a person who has never been loved cannot comprehend the love of God.

People who go to church are overflowing with love and want to share it with others. Just the opposite of what your theory suggests.

I feel good when I go to church. I feel better after the service is over.

No. Since they knew the love of an earthly father they can more easily accept the love of their heavenly father.
