We are getting married in Sept.
Is that a long engagement?

Yes you can still have an engagement party not so much for the announcement but for a chance to celebrate the upcoming nuptials. Have fun with it and enjoy the celebration and the company. Clearly mark on the invitation, "Best Wishes Only", despite this some people will still wish to bring a gift which you graciously accept. Hope this helps.

Engagement parties are suppose to be sophisticated and elegant.... not really a game thing... And masquerade party is a little strange for people trying to get to know each other..... you know what I mean... ever met someone at a Halloween party and you picture them as Austin Powers for the rest of their lives??

Of course its not too late. An engagement party is a) A chance for all your family and friends who care about you to celebrate your plans and b) The chance to have a party.

You could have your engagement party the night before your wedding if you wanted.

Now get to it and stop keeping them all waiting!

Depends on when the wedding is going to be. If you having a long engagement, then sure have an engagement party, otherwise, no.

The bride/groom should not throw themselves an engagement party, its tacky. You can send out a mailer, announcing your engagement.

It will only be too late, the day after your wedding. So knock yourself out.

If basically everyone knows about it, why throw another party? Don't bother........gift or no gift.
