American camcorders are usually designed to play back on NTSC format TV's(not matter if it's DVD,Digital8 or DV) which is the TV system used there. Although the camcorder will work, you may have a problem playing the footage back on your TV unless it too can play NTSC TV signals (as well as the European PAL system TV) and may not be able to play videos recorded for the PAL format TV system used in Ireland & the UK. As long as you buy a camcorder designed for the PAL TV system when in America, you should be OK.American power adapter also run on 110v (not 240v) and the plugs are different but many power adapters can be switched for each voltage (but not all).

There are different outputs of electricity in Ireland - we use 220 - 240 volts. You'll need adaptors to use American electrical goods in Ireland.

It probably won't but you can buy adapters so that they will work.
