Because lamb is the best thats why its so expensive. It tastes so better than mutton. Wherever you are from it may have to be exported to your country. Here in NZ Lamb prices arent that high its because we have a lot of sheep therefore skipping the export prices.

Lamb is expensive because it is an animal. Who wants to eat a baby sheep. It is only a baby which bleats when its mother the sheep calls it

We buy 1/2 a lamb at a time for our freezer from our local Organic farm it costs £31.00 for the half which weighs usually around 12 kg which works out ar £2.58 a Kg roughly £1.17 per lb you Cant beat that & its Organic

You have got to shop around, for the for the best deals in lamb, i got a whole leg of lamb at sainburys £4-99 last week.

Depending on where you live (outisde of NZ and Autralia) lamb meat is imported. It usually comes from either NZ or Australia. Because it is imported, the cost is higher. Cows and chickens are usually not imported. Most countries have their own cow and chicken farms so their costs are lower.

Not all cuts of lamb are expensive, you will pay premium prices for premium cuts for example the legs. Breast of lamb is less than £1 each at our butchers. The cheaper cut is also tastiest!
