I just can't imagine falling into that line of thinking. It's impossible for me to pick up a bible, read it, and say 'yep, thats absolutely without a doubt the truth of all things'. I've read it and during the process was amazed that people take it as literal word.

Is it a good lesson of morality using parables and allergories? Sure, it does provide good learning instruction. Why people disregard that and start trying to take it word for word as historical fact completely amazes me. Most people don't take it as literal fact because they've become learned and educated enough to see through and past that.

So, back to the question, since I obviously don't believe in the Bible as fact, why do I get so many answers from people that just copy/paste verses like they actually witnessed it themselves, like suddenly I'm going to be like 'oh, I never thought about it like that, Jesus did resurrect because a book said so, wow, thanks'

Are people really this gullible today's time?

1 Peter
Chapter 2
1
1 Rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, insincerity, envy, and all slander;
2
like newborn infants, long for pure spiritual milk so that through it you may grow into salvation,
3
for you have tasted that the Lord is good. 2
4
Come to him, a living stone, 3 rejected by human beings but chosen and precious in the sight of God,
5
and, like living stones, let yourselves be built 4 into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
6
For it says in scripture: "Behold, I am laying a stone in Zion, a cornerstone, chosen and precious, and whoever believes in it shall not be put to shame."
7
Therefore, its value is for you who have faith, but for those without faith: "The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,"
8
and "A stone that will make people stumble, and a rock that will make them fall." They stumble by disobeying the word, as is their destiny.

some are thoughts, and a few are genuine. the perfect element to do is get books on the undertaking by using respected, peer-reviewed scholars. study up on the Documentary speculation, Redaction grievance, Rhetorical grievance, and so on. scholars have an somewhat sound information of the Bible. the in demand college of Biblical grievance is dedicated to information the textual content cloth because it exchange into understood by using the unique hearers. i like to apply the occasion of Animal Farm by using George Orwell. Centuries from now, some human beings will brush aside it as nonsense because of the fact it has speaking animals. Others will have self belief that the farm fairly existed, and that the animals fairly talked. yet scholars will understand that it fairly is a complicated and state-of-the-paintings analogy for the Russian revolution. The Bible is the comparable way. assorted the 1st 5 books, as an occasion, have been written as a critique of the Jewish schism interior the 9th century BC, and have been in no way meant to be history.

If it isn't true, why has the Bible been around this long. Sure, there are very unbelievable stories in it, take Jonah and the Whale for instance. But it gives people something to believe in, and it people become better people for believing...what's the harm? And Bible verses offer some very interesting insights, and some common saying come from the Bible and people don't even know it. For example, "Red sky in the morning, sailor's warning, red sky at night sailor's delight," is actually a Bible verse.
But overall, let people believe what they want to, they just should be respectful of my belief if they expect me to do the same for them. So, are we gullible, or are you?

I've asked myself that for years; I've seen people who think somehow quoting the Bible to someone that doesn't believe in it will suddenly transform them. Somehow, when I hear John 3:16, I'm going to react with, "Wow! I believe!" If someone doesn't believe in it, quoting from it isn't going to persuade anybody of anything.

For me- If you ask me a "faith" based question, I will give you a "faith" based answer.

My faith happens to be Christianity, and Christianity happens to believe the bible is fact.

If you want a "faith" based answer without any mention of what I believe... then you are asking for something that cannot be.

(Any religious answerer is going to use their "holy" book, regardless of what faith they belong to.... because they believe it to be something special.)

You are blind to the truth, my friend.

THE BIBLE is the WORD OF GOD. It is a powerful WORD that is more powerful than your silly and hypocritical Constitution.
