Hopefully one never attacks. IF you lucky enough to see the attack coming, act strong, yell NO or SIT like your the owner of the dog, find something to put between you, or get up higher than the dog can reach. For the most part you will not have time to do this, or you will not see it coming till it happens. If again you have time to react, put out leg or arm for the attack, protect neck, face, head, stomach, and chest. These are most vunerable to attack. As much as its going to hurt you would rather they lock on to an arm and leg. Also for a pit bull or dog in general. These are easiest to latch onto. If they get a good bite they will hold on to that and not release to try another bite. In this case you WANT them to lock down on these parts till help arrives. To avoid them grinding into you, once locked you need to stay still and calm. If no one is around to help the next thing is to try to find something to get between you and the dog, THEN go defensive, eyes, ears, mouth nose. Poking the dog in the eyes, biting its nose and striking it on or around the head is best to make it release but pits are stubborn once they release they will come back for another attack, thats why you need something between you before you start hitting it. In all other cases the last resort is death to the dog, this can be acheived by find a projectile, a stick a pen a pointy object, go for the eye and bury deep as you can, go into the ear and stab as hard and far as you can, or between the rib cage into the chest area and aim upwards. IF that is the LAST and only resort. BE SURE TO ALWAY protect your head and neck at ALL TIMES this is the most vunerable point on you and the Dog TOTALY knows that instinctually. I was attacked by a Rottweiler, its was my own fault, but I ended up having to kill the dog to save myself. I was more tramatized for having to do that then having been attacked.

What a ghastly question! It depends on how the dog (any dog) attacks, from which direction. It is said that if you grab the front legs and yank them apart, the dog will drop (probably die). It is also said grab the balls. But in truth, I don't know if I'd be able to do either (physically, or emotionally) although if it came down to him or me, I guess I'd have to fight with whatever means was necessary. I would just say that hitting at a dog is pointless - it only makes the red mists descend more which is why 'beating off a dog' from a child attack is totally the wrong thing to do. Like I say, ghastly question.

Pit Bulls have 1000 pounds pressure per square inch on a bite. The best way is not to be there but if you find yourself in that situation go for the eyes and nose. Always look for some sort of weapon like a rock for a tree branch.

I don't see how there's any way you can, if you have no weapons.
