No, I haven't, but I did spend this past NYE in Central Park. We arrived at 10:30 p.m. (If you want to go to Times Square be prepared to get there by 5 p.m. and to stand around with no bathroom facilities until after midnight!) There was a band and a DJ at The Band Shell (a famous spot in the Park). There was a costume contest and a 4-Mile Midnight Run sponsored by the NY Road Runners Club. Some of the runners are in costume for the race. There is dancing and singing and a great party atmosphere.
Unlike Times Square, there are bathroom facilities and you are free to move around the entire park. After the runners have started the race (at midnight) walkers can take the course through the park if they like.
I forgot to mention the Grucci fireworks at midnight. Grucci is the company that does the Macy's July 4th Fireworks display over the East River. Additionally, the winning man and woman in the race is greeted by a volley of fireworks.
The age range of people present was young child (2 or 3) up to senior citizens. The crowd is festive and laid back.
Weather permitting, I will be there again in December. A great alternative to Times Square.

Yes, just this last New Years! It is incredible, if you don't mind a literal wall of people and not being able to go to the bathroom.
I love New York so I don't mind any inconvenience involved with going there.
It is so exciting to be in a crowd of that many people, the sounds and the way that city can celebrate is just pure FUN!!!!!!!!! Confetti surrounds you, fireworks explode into the sky and metallic streamers come from everywhere... every hour nearing midnight. Then at midnight the noise level will bring goose bumps on top of goose bumps. GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you ever get the chance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went this year bc I just moved to Brooklyn. It wasn't as fun as I thought it would be. Last year I stood on top the Empire State Building and watched it..that was better.

I went this year. It's pretty boring standing around for hours, but when the ball dropped it was a bit fun for (a few minutes). I'd rather just watch it drop at home.

It's actually kind of a let down...it's cold and boring. You just stand around and try to get on tv. It's more fun in the bars.
