Would a Christian be required to snitch on you so as not to break the "bear false witness" commandment?

Considering that 98 percent of the prison population is Christian, I would have to say yes, atheists probably are more trustworthy.

Being trustworthy is not what one claims to believe in or say they are. It is in fact, who they are; their character and moral system which they believe in and practice. So, you would trust the one who is consistent and others can validate them.

We all have been fooled at some point or another. It is sometimes hard to determine if you don’t know them well. If in business, check them out by other sources. If in your personal life it can be confusing with the matters of the heart. Just use wisdom and discretion, let them prove themselves; give grace where grace is due.

We should take responsibility for ourselves and in part for those whom we feel is in trouble somehow. There is a fine line of helping and interfering. Keep in mind, we all make mistakes. Try not to jump to any conclusion, you may be wrong. Make sure you get all the needed facts for the cause of the offense, as truth to one may not be truth to another.

Well a Christian isnt obligated to "snitch", if you remember, Rahab was rewarded for not snitching on the spies who she knew were hiding. There might be a moral obligation for a Christian to snitch if say, they knew you blew up a school.THEN maybe you might not want to share this information with a Christian ;)

However, bearing false witness means to wrongly testify against someone. Not unlike gossip... it is bearing false witness to say "Sue is a ho!" if indeed she isn't.

I'd say religion has nothing to do with it... Of course, it probably should really, but most christians don't follow that particular commandment, so the point is pretty much mute, both groups lie. Further, basing trust on someone's capacity to lie has its own problems... I mean even if you know someone won't rat on you, trust goes the other way too, you want them to tell you the truth.

I've been raised to never snitch.
I remember being six and being told that people who snitched were crap. Never tell on someone. Not even to save your own ***.
It has stuck......
Meh,It depends. I have to get to know the person better before I can decide if I trust them or not.

Make a list of the last ten people who betrayed your trust. Then, count up the number of christians on the list. You'll have your answer. If it's not 100%, it will be darn close.

As biased as this may sound, I find it easier to trust someone who is an atheist or agnostic than religious people, most of the time because religious people can never understand my point of view

Not sure about false witness but after the amazing number that would let their own children be murdered rather than denounce their faith, I'm all for trusting the Atheists with my life if it's ever needed.

No difference everyone lies. Besides the concept of religion based on rewards and punishment proves that there is nothing divine about it just plain visions, voices of mentally ill people.

Well, if prison hardly has any atheists, then they'd be the ones who would do anything, including snitching, to keep their own @sses outta the joint.
