Listen, try working on a criminal/ chemical dependent psychotic ward in a hospital. Then you'll have your fill of some truly disturbed people, and after getting choked with your own stethoscope a time or two you'll think about them a little different. Anyone who says they are not crazy hasn't been assaulted by one of them yet.

I have friends/family/aquaintances who have depression, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, OCD and schizophrenia.
Depressed people act depressed, which isn't too crazy. Bipolar in my opinion are the craziest and hardest to deal with, since they can turn on you and get really moody, also do crazy things like have drunken rages, drive the car 100 miles an hour, fight with cops while sober, etc.
Panic disorder, OCD and other anxiety disorders are not apparent all the time, but when they are, the people generally act really clingy or (not surprisingly) anxious.
I know 2 people with delusions--one used to think he was God, but is under control because he takes his meds and acts pretty normal now. The other only had one episode of hearing/seeing/thinking things that weren't there (it was during a period of extreme stress in her life), and after some short-term counseling and a change in where she lived, she got better & has been normal. But during the episode, she thought there was some force out to get her (spies, etc).

Good question. The answer would be found in a mental hospital. As for functional crazies, there would be an exaggeration of what would ordinarily be viewed as peculiarities or eccentricities or foibles. I think of the woman who wore a dog collar and barked to her dogs but was she crazy? Or just peculiar? She would have been normal in a punk band, as was Bad Boy Bubby (an Australian movie).

You are asking about people who are psychotic rather than merely neurotic. It depend upon what condition they have but the most common psychosis is paranoid schizophrenia which means you hallucinate. They will talk to people you do not see and walk around object that are not there.
Do not make fun, for them it is as real as the nose on your face, just be sympatheticand see if you can get them to a doctor. If no money then the county can help.

There's a guy that lives down the street from me that sits on the ground and cries and apologizes to the grass every time he takes trash out to the curb. No, I'm not kidding. He apologizes to the planet for sending trash to the landfill.
He's crazy, and yet, somehow, I think all of us are for thinking he is.
Maybe if we all felt that bad about destroying the planet, we wouldn't be.

We don't use the word crazy anymore. THere are many people who walk next to you every day or go to the movies or restaurant who suffer from some form of mental problems..anxiety, panic ayndrome, bi-polarism, schizpophrenia and phobias of all kinds. THey can be helped with the proper medication and other forms of treatment. Some have to be hospitalized for their safety and the safety of others, but they are not called crazy.

Yes there is this guy in our town who walks around in the middle of winter with a huge sweater on and about 10 scarves wrapped around his neck, and his vehicle is so loaded with crap he can hardly see over to look out the windshield, i feel sorry for him, but you can tell he is cukoo if you look at him and smile to try and be nice he looks at you like he is afraid you are going to pull a knife on him!

They seem to have various thoughts of self destructive nature spewing out of their mouths in a relentless effort to find some form of peace.
Also I would think they might well be playing with their own feces and spatter it on the walls as a means of amusement and artistic expression.
