i just started to take aerobic classes, are they as good for me as just doing weights/and or treadmill/eliptical?

Aerobics is good for fat-burning as well as a whole body workout and tone as it is cardio-vascular. Some aerobics classes also do work on the abdominals.

You can do all of the above to keep your workout balanced. Aerobic will burn fat but weights will help to build muscle. Add the treadmill and elliptical to work other muscles differently. Congratulations on your new fitness routine!
