What kind of food your cat eats has no bearing on whether it will get worms or not. Your cat will pick up worm eggs from other animal's faeces, from the grass, and you may also bring them into your cat on your shoes (so an indoor cat can still get worms). Worms can cause poor growth or weight loss in kittens and adults, and may also cause vomiting, diarrhoea or problems in the lungs depending on where they live. There is also a risk of children catching worms from putting dirty fingers in mouths - it may just cause digestive upsets but rarely worms can cause huge problems in for example the liver or eyes by travelling through the body.

Veterinary recommendations are that you worm your cat 4 times a year with a veterinary product - these will be far stronger than anything you can buy in the petshop. Most vets are happy to answer any questions you have about worms.

No, it doesn't. Pet food manufacturers use cooking and rendering processes, parasites won't survive that. What DOES give cats worms is eating birds and rodents, who have the worms in their bodies. The cat ingests those and gets worms. Or the cat swallows a flea that's carrying the tapeworm larvae (fleas are part of tapeworm life cycles). But commercially made foods are not going to be carrying parasites.

Pretty much impossible to pick up worms from dried food, but with wet food, especially meat derivatives, it is like us humans eating raw meat, which is why we can get tape worms... You should always worm your cats anyway. They can also pick up wors from drinking from ponds and puddles.go to the vets and askfor drontal. This should do the trick. Always a good precaution!

Cats do not get worms from their food. They get them from sniffing the feces of animals that have worms (for most types) or by eating fleas or mouse chipmunk or rabbit intestines (for tapeworms).

Your cat could expereince other kinds of stomache upset from wet food depending on the type and how sensitive your cat is.
