What alternatives are there to standard dewatering techniques for construction projects?

I am looking for verifiable alternatives to installing dewatering drains. Any ideas? This is for a very large freeway interchange project.

Wicking, drilled drains, french drains.... lots of ways to drain systems.... but without knowing the parameters and the specifics you are not going to get a whole lot of specific direction here.
