Because I remember Cain pleading to God that his punishment was too harsh, having to walk the Earth. Because anyone may kill him. Was he worried about his mom or dad?

woo hoo fun fun..

no one knows for sure. As far as the bible actually says (and if you follow the order it goes in) the only people were alive was Cain, Abel, Adam, and Eve. After Abel died and Cain was cast out did Adam and Eve have Seth, after Seth is when the bible told about other son's and daughters.

Funny thing though is after Cain is cast out he and His wife have a child... hmmm...

Many christians will probably counter this but there are books that have been left out of the bible.. they were not thought to be true even though it fills in a lot of holes in the bible.

It doesnt say about how many people were alive but it does tell who Cain's wife was. You can actually get some of the books free online. The ones I am reading now is The first and second books of Adam and Eve

the bible doesn't say but there were probaly many people; sons and daughters of Adam and Eve. It would be more helpful if we knew exactly when Cain killed Abel. According to population growth rates there would have been about 15 million people at the time of the flood. You could easily get a population of a couple thousand in a few hundred years.
assuming a hundred years after they left the garden: less than 500

Genesis 5 states that Adam and Eve had many children. These people lived 800 yrs or so. Cain may have been 400 when he killed Abel.Generations would have sprung up ,intermarried and with each one become more and more distant ,until after 100 years ,they don't know alot of their kin and they have moved many, many miles from each other.Hell,if it wasn't for internet and travel,I wouldn't even know 1/2 my mom and dad's relatives.

Only God knows the answer to your question. The Bible doesn't tell us that God created other people after Adam and Eve. It only tells us that they had other children.

Your question is equivalent to asking how many humans were alive when Perseus killed Medusa.

Learn the difference between fact and fable. Genesis is allegory.
