I'm having a problem using the AutoFill feature in Excel:

I'll use simple formulas to make it easier to explain:

Say the formula in D5 is A5+B5+E8.
If I use the autofill feature (by dragging down from the right corner of the cell with the formula to the other cells that I want to have a similar formula) I'll get the following results:
D6 is A6+B6+E9

D7 is A7+B7+E10

My question is that I would like that last number to constant (The E8 from the first formula)

So I would want the following results:

D6 to be A6+B6+E8

D7 to be A7+B7+E8

D8 to be A8+B8+E8

Anyone know how to do that, or even if it's possible? Also, if you don't understand the question let me know and I'll try to simplify it.

Before dragging the formula down change the E8 to $E$8, then drag down. The $ signs force it to use that spciefic field always

You would enter the formula in the first cell, then use the F4 key to make the cells absolute. For instance, once you type in the formula and you come to E8, hit the F4 key until you see the display as $E$8. That will keep the formula to always read cell E8.

You need to use absolute value for E8, therefore, you formula will be: = A5 + B5 + $E$8

Yeah, the formula in D5 should read as follows:

A5+B5+$E$8.

The dollar sign indicates a constant, so the cell details will remain the same throughout.
