Quiting would be the worst thing we could do.

We need to get around the problem and succeed, or endure our way through it.

US and UK should apologise and leave. But this won't happen. Yes, the UK claims to be withdrawing troops soon, but the US is sending a further 20,000. This is to replace the 3,000 dead, and other wounded. They will amass more troops and head into Iran/Syria. The UN stated yesterday that over 34,400 Iraqi civilians were killed in the last 12 months of fighting. Perhaps varying native factions will continue to fight after the withdrawl of the illegally invading force have left. But Western interference for oil has destabilised not only the region but the entire world. This is an unjust and ilegal war. It had nothing to do with honour or the US intention to liberate Iraq from Sadam. If they are so intent on introducing democracy they should set their sights on Tibet, which has has 2 million people killed at the hands of the invading Chinese regime since the 1950's. Sorry to make this so long an answer, but perhaps those 20,000 US troops could leave Iraq and go and help out in Tibet. Rebuilding the destroyed homes and monasteries. (Sorry there's no oil there boys) Iraq needs the money we spend on arms to be converted into aid, doctors and engineers instead of millitary personel.

If we just pull out it would be chaos. I'm very interested in politics, liberal, and was opposed to the war in the first place. What we need to do now is what we should have done in past, focus more of our efforts diplomatically to all of the countries around the world to help in our cause. We are now bringing troop levels to what they were two years ago when we couldn't secure Baghdad, adding roughly only 15% troops.

Even if we could secure the city, the Iraqi government is not doing its part, so it would not help the overall equation as Iraq will always be a harbor for terrorists as long the Iraqi government is not in cooperation. Invading a country on shaky intelligence with no long-term plan or international support was a grave mistake.

If the iraqis really want bush out, they don't need peace or a political solution.
I'm afraid that Bush won't leave until he's been repaid for his investment in military hardware. So the Iraqis should give him whatever billions of dollars of oil he wants, and he will leave tomorrow.

People don't see, it's not a war on Iraq. We are at war with radical Muslims. If we come home, they will follow use here. DU!! 9/11--Destroy all radicalized Muslims. The war on terror will never end, only move to other parts of the world, let's keep the war OVER THERE. whether you like it or not...they are the enemy and would kill YOU(American) and YOU wouldn't know why they was doing it. OPEN YOUR EYES
It's BULLSH&T!! they have freedom of speech and protection here in the U.S. But you go over there and you have to worry about your DAMB HEAD getting chopped off.

It is wiser for them to pull out. They do what they intend to do, you know set up a democratic system, in no time at all those people are just going to tear it down. They aren't used to that way of living. They will always want someone to tell them what to do, how to breathe, how to think. The intentions are honorable, yet they will not work because of what I just said.

They should just leave. They where unjust to go there in the beginning they have made everything 1000 times worse. They will never bring the already dead 34,000 plus civilian lives back and there is no need to kill any further innocents. Just pack up and leave. Its not your business, you where not asked for help, there where no weapons of Mass destruction. And its just a big loss and crying shame all round.

We need to realize that the country belongs to the Iraqis to run as they see fit. We forced democracy on them and then wonder why it isn't working well. Would a different, forced form of government work here?

We need to withdraw the troops but rebuild the country that we destroyed.

I think we should take care of business and then get out and let them run their own country. We need to set a deadline, tell the leaders of that country what that deadline is and then stick to it. Make them learn to stand on their own feet! But, I hope the deadline is the end of Bush's term, or he'll just start another war to get more Americans killed. He's already looking at Iran, North Korea and others.

"We"? Have I stumbled across a USA Yahoo site? I thought this was the UK & Ireland site. No matter. It's a good question.

The US should collectively get down on its knees and seek God's forgiveness - starting with the President. They should confess their sins before God, all the bloodguilt on their hands, and ask for his direction as to what to do about it. They should search their consciences to see what the way of humility is and repent of their arrogance in thinking they could give their enemies a dose of their own medicine whilst imagining they are a Christian country. May God forgive them and show them a better way.
