love means that we feel elated when we are close to the person and that we want to be with that person. Although the specific feelings are different for everyone. there is one thing that is common to all forms of love: that is the "ideal," or "pure" love, that does not "exist" it itself, but "is" in every particular love.

Western civilizations have a different perspective of love than most Eastern cultures. Western cultures tend to attach a euphoric, overwhelming feeling to "love". What some would consider merely a crush, and what Jungian analysts would say is projecting yourself (values, etc.) onto someone you believe to share them.
There are other cultures that attach a stronger, stable, less "crazy" feeling to love. It is something that takes a long time to develop between two people (not some instant gratification).

I think "love" is a label for a feeling we get that we cannot describe. Imagine an overwhelming emotional reaction that's so intense that you can't put it into words... that's "love." You can't explain it, it just IS.
...and that's why people spend their whole lives trying to find someone who makes them feel like that.
That's what I think. I don't think Love really has a meaning... its just a name for something we can't explain or describe... but we know its there.
One more thing - if someone "thinks" they're in love... then they're not; because if you're in love - you definitely know.

to each person it has many meanings
you love your child and parents
but you love your special significant other in a different way
love is both a physical and emotional thing
love can be physical and emotional or just emotional
you can love somene but not be in love with them

fighting to show your affection and stand above all else to satisfy that one special person. I don't know but I know that love is new to me so I'm working on it.
