They have quite a bit of false doctrine.

He certainly picks on the Catholics. However, he is a fundamentalist, KJV only, bible dude. Not saying he has everything wrong but a lot can be suspect.

Nicole - Scripture is the sole source for doctrine - not some guy's interpretation that he uses in a comic.

Chick Tracts are packaged ignorance under the guise of Christian literature. There is nothing Christian about them however, and the only effect they can have on anyone who reads such trash is to foster ignorance and bigotry.

You mean the cartoonist that is really graphic and harsh? I suppose that there are better ways of witnessing than beating people over the head, so I don't use them, but then again, at least he is trying.

Personally, I think that handing out tracts of any sort is a poor way of witnessing -- if you are simply using them as a way of avoiding having an actual conversation with the person to whom you are trying to convert. Why would anyone read and/or believe something an anonymous pamphlet said? Only a very gullible person would, and he has probably has been converted by some cultist already.

Witnessing is supposed to be personal. After all, you are inviting them to have a personal relationship with Christ. Tracts are something that you leave with someone to give more information. Would you want your new friend to read something harsh?

A number of people are asking for examples of the false doctrine in Chick tracts. Here is the one that I hate the most. A Catholic dies but is denied entrance into heaven because his sins had never been forgiven. The Catholic says that he has gone to confession and that a priest forgave his sins. Peter quotes the scripture that says that only God can forgive sins and send the man off to hell. The absurdity in this one is that the scripture quote that chick uses is actually one that actually quotes a Pharisee. The Pharisee is challenging Jesus who has just forgiven a man's sins. The Pharisee says that Jesus blasphemes because only God can forgive sins! Obviously Chick chooses to join the Pharisee in opposing Jesus!
Now to answer your question. Those Christians who like Chick tracts are ignorant about scripture and use Chick tracts simply because they are easy and simple. Never mind that they are filled with hate, bigotry and misconceptions.

They're "tracts", not "tracks". Some groups feel that Jack Chick is presenting sound doctrine, but those groups are few and far between. Most mainstream Christian groups don't distribute Chick tracts or condone Chick's theology. The groups that do use them may feel that their cartoon illustrations and simplistic writing style might appeal to young people, the group to which they're most often targeted.

I have met quite a few people who have come to faith by them and others who have repented and returned because of them.

Which ones didn't you like, the anti-morman one, anti-Jehovah witness ones, the ones teaching about the greaest story ever told?
:
Phil 1:15-18
Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:

16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:

17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.

18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

Jack Chick is a liar and a bigot. Here is proof:

His buddy, Alberto Riviero, is a con artist and a convicted felon. He was never in any Jesuit seminary as he claims, because that is a matter of public record, and no such evidence exists.

They are cartoon tracts and have great visual appeal. Even if the doctrine may be a little off at times, the intent is good and the scripture is good. People read them....so people pass them out. We have a couple in our church who read them in a motel room and got saved! So they change lives!

Jack Chick pretty much just makes things up as he goes along. Especially about the Catholic Church.

I use the link and the tracts because they're pretty straightforward. As a kid, I was captivated by the stories. Better to be scared into heaven then duped into hell. I've never found any false doctrine.

Jesus is God, He is the only way to heaven.
