If someone does not believe that there is a God, for lack of proof or whatever, why would they believe in satan? There is no proof od satan either.

Hell, I think there is a God but I know that there is no satan. Men made up hell and satan to control the masses.

Triforce, are you asking me would I accept my friend if they became a satanist? I think that I would accept them yes. I would still deny that hell or satan even exists.

well, here's the thing..
No, of course they aren't satanists.. but christians believe that if you don't worship their god, their way, you're a satanist- even if you don't believe in their version of satan.
Even most satanists don't believe in their version of satan.. it's sad, really, but this is what their churches and doctrines teach them.

In jewish mythology, satan is NOT God's enemy.. never was.. so if Jesus existed, he wouldn't have seen satan as the enemy.
Satan is considered to be in God's employ as the one who tests their faith.. to see if they're ready for the next level, so to speak.

The Greeks invaded that area about 400 years before the alleged birth of Jesus, and they had really strict concepts of good versus evil.. they incorporated that into the beliefs of the jews when they translated the hebrew texts into Greek. (Notice that there are no demonic possessions in the old testament, but the new is rife with them?)

The christians have that greek invasion to thank for it, along with the catholic church, who took the celtic horned god and labeled him satan (this is where you get the devil with the pitchfork from).
So, you're right. Satan is solely a man-contrived entity.

You won't convince christians of either of these no matter what you say.

Since satan was created by God, an atheist would believe there is no satan, as he doesnt believe in God. If a person is a satan worshiper, he believes there is a satan and a God, he has chosen to worship satan, not God.

The answer is no.

You say you believe in God, but not a satan. Lucifer is written about in Genesis, so if you believe in the Bible, then you believe there is satan.

Um, I'm surprised that you're asking this question, quite frankly. I thought it was a pretty well known fact that Satanists don't worship Satan. They call themselves Satanists as a way to show their opposition to everything Christian. Satanists are atheists. They don't believe in any God.

Satanism (LaVeyan Satanism anyway) is more a philosophy than a religion. They "worship" Satan because he is an adversary of "God". This is because they believe God was created by power-hungry priests to control the masses.

If they believe in Satan as their god. Then they stop being atheists and becomen they satanists. The definition of an atheist is one who does not believe in a god.

Satan is more less, man. Satan isn't a god. Satanists believe in indulgence rather than abstinence, they believe in vital existence instead of pipe dreams. It's more of a philosophy than a religion. And it doesn't take much pondering to understand either, it's really straightforward and to the point.

It's worked fine for me so far.

Satanists don't believe in Satan, he is simply used as a representation of desire and personal gain.

Atheists don't believe in any god.

Satanists and Satanic worshipers and two completely seperate ideas.

One must be Christian to be a Satanist (who believes in Satan - not all Satanist groups are centered around a belief in Satan, oddly).

Anything is possible. The question is, would you accept your friend if he or she were to convert?

I'm Satanist and not Atheists. You're either one or the other, but not both. You can't be Buddhist and Islam at the same time.

Of course not. We atheists don't believe in god, and satan was created by god (so it says in the fiction book called The Bible)... so NO.
