This depends on the operating system you are using in XP it is a simple matter of placing the XP CD supplied with your computer in the CD drive then shut down and restart your computer and follow the on screen prompts

However I would recommend you type into your search engine "how to format a hard drive" there are lots of good places for FREE advice and you should have a read first to ensure you are aware of the finality of such an operation regarding the files that were on the drive originally
PS you can also free download a windows start up disk for the other Windows operating systems GOOD LUCK

Use windows 98 disc. Insert a 98 cd in the drive then restart your computer. When it asks to boot from hard drive or cd choose cd.
Next choose to start without cd help. Next at the prompt type in fdisk. You'll want to use the full drive so say yes. When you come to the screen with 4 options on ot choose option 3 if you've got XP on your computer then option 4 on the next screen. You'll be asked if your sure you want to wipe the partion say yes. When thats done it'll ask you to reboot your computer to reformat it. Before you do that if you got a XP disc incert that into the drive then restart your computer. Your XP disc will partition your drive and reformat it automatically.
Hop[e this helps

If you wish to have a blank computer with no operating system and everything gone, right-click the hard disk (C) and click the option "format" answer yes when asked to confirm if you want to erase all contents of your hardware.
