Fashionably late means no more than 30 minutes past the indicated time, according to etiquette experts. If the invitation reads "from 6 to 9 p.m.," it means you may arrive any time between 6 and 9 p.m. It does not mean you have to stay from 6 to 9 p.m., nor does it mean that you can come at 9 p.m. and stay all night. (If you're arriving at the end, stay no more than 30 minutes.)

Generally you should come on time and at most be 10-15 minutes late. If it's a smaller occasion like a dinner or small get-together, get there on time, if its a party it's okay to be 15 minutes late, and call if your gonna be any later than that.
Personally, I think arriving early, especially way early, is rude and it often bothers the host. They don't need your help setting anything up, and they could be running late too. Your presence could make things awkward.

If you are the guest of honor, I would say coming in ten or fifteen minutes after everyone else is supposed to be there could be considered fashionably late and not too inappropriate. Other than that, being late is rude and disrespectful to the host/hostess.

Fashionably late can be 30 minutes to an hour. But being on time is always good but make an impressive entrance.

Fashionably Late is 15 min. (not any longer). I believe it is a good rule of thumb to be fashionably late at any party. That way you don't look over eager

TEN minutes. If the host isn't quite ready, then you've given him/her time. More than ten, then you're being impolite to your host.
Funny thing tho, I did it in Mexico, and I sat there by myself for HALF AN HOUR till the others showed up.
So...it depends on where you live.

No such thing. When someone is late, it just shows me much they respect me, my feelings and my time. Late is rude, whether it is one minute or 3 days. Late simply means I don't care.

I'd consider "Fashionably Late" as BEING ON TIME. People always seem to have this fantasy, like in movies, of the party being in full swing, and they come floating in, all activity stopping and all eyes turning to them, as they sweep everyone off their feet in a grande entrance. But in reality, most people are annoyed by the latecomers. You are there for the party and to meet the others, not to put on a big show for them. It's not some competition to see who can waltz in and upstage everyone else. Be yourself, be on time, and enjoy the party.
