I had my dog spayed and now about a month later I have noticed that she occasionally leaks urine. I have been reading about Spay incontinence, but most of the information I have seen on that is that it occurs when the dog is sleeping or relaxed.

The problem for my dog happens after we have gone out to do "business." She will go to the bathroom, sometimes more than once, and then when we get back into the building she leaks a few drops. It usually isn't more than a tsp worth, and usually less. I have tried making sure that she has done all she needs too, and also taking her out again when I see the drips but she doesn't seem to have to "potty" any more than she has.

Anyone have an idea if this is spay incontinence, or another problem?

Doesn't sound like spay incontenence to me. Like mentioned it is a larger amount, and almost always a "bed wetting" situation. Plus, it is often many years after being spayed. Some things that come to mind would be eliminated with a urine test. There is a possibility that an adhesion of the uterine stump to the bladder might be causing some irregular function of the bladder sphinctor. This might be temporary. If all checks ok by the vet, he might try a trial of a drug known as PPA.

This does not sound like spay incontinence.
They leak more when thye are sleeping or laying around. Sometimes when they are sleeping the will completly empty their baldder. Most times that will get a vet visit and they make medicine that will help with it. It is not expensive.
It can take some time to regulate but once regulated the meds work well.
You may want to speak to your vet and see what they think.

It could be spay incontinence, but I'd recommend taking some urine to the vet to check for urinary tract infections first!

You could take your dog to a VET and get her examined. Your Vet would likely take a urine sample to determine if there is something else that may be causing the "leaking". Some infections cause that.

It could be spay incontinence or perhaps a urinary tract infection. Your vet can give you a proper diagnosis.

she might just be dripping. my pup has longer hair "down there" and it stays wet after she pees, so maybe your dog has the same thing, and its just that that hair is wet and dripping?
