I have a one-and-a half year old cat. She has the run of a fairly large 2 story house. I work at home and do not live alone, so she does not go many periods of being alone.

To train her some I have used a water pistol, and made noise with a rolled up newspaper. This is to keep her off kitchen counters and from food. I have never struck her. Today is particularly sad. Last night as she sometimes does, she came up by my pillow and slept right with me. Sometimes she sleeps on my legs, rear area. This morning I was petting her and loving her, not overdoing it. Then just started to nip me, finally breaking skin, and biting fairly hard. I have several bloody places, athough there are not deep. When she was doing this I hollered, "No!", "No,!" (the usual reasonable command for discipline).

She will nip my father, who comes over fairly often; he has to be careful. Suggestions about what to do concerning my cat, Cleo, would be greatly appreciated.

One of my cats does this. You pet them and they seem to be loving it.. and then something inside them just snaps and they bite you -hard. My cat usually starts giving signals: his tail gets excited and his ears will fold back, sometimes he kicks his one hind leg. The expression on his face changes... and if any or all of that happens I know he's had enough and it's time to back off.

My cat does this (he's a kitty and hasn't been neutered yet) so I think some of the aggression is from that, but when he bites me or my daughter too hard, I just pick him up, tell him no and put him down. If he persists, then I spray him with the sparay bottle.

My husband and I have a cat that will not let us even touch him. He bites us and scratches us. Maybe your cat doesn't like to be touched or maybe he's playing with you. They don't realize when they get to rough.

Is your cat declawed? Then that is the problem. The cat has suffered trauma and cannot defend itself so it is using the only means it has left and that is her teeth.
