Like any other dog, by being firm and consistent. Remember that dogs think in pack mentality. This means you need to establish at a young age that you are "top dog" in the house and any behavior otherwise will not be tolerated. This is especially important with Chi's as they tend to think they are the most important. Never let your dog eat with you, they should always eat after, never let any sign of aggresion go unchecked. A firm no and a time out in his crate will usually work, but sometimes you have to be a little more firm. When you think he is being too assertive, try rolling him on his back and pinning him to the floor (I dont mean strangle him, just hold him till he sits still and admits submission, this is what the alpha dog in a pack would do). Training starts young, must be done frequently and must be consistently done by all members of your household so they learn to respect the authority of humans. Praise is the best motivator, so every time he does something right make a big deal out of it, lots of pets and hugs. I recommend obedience classes (check with your city, they usually have them cheap) not only for the dog but also for you, its good to have professional advice and its good socialization for the dog. Also, start at a young age making your puppy comfortable with you touching his feet, pulling on his ears and looking in his mouth, this way when he needs his ears cleaned and his nails clipped he knows how to behave, and makes him a much better patient for any vet or groomer. Good luck

I actually have a chihuahua and he is only 2 months old and he knows how to sit, stay, down, 'high five', and 'bed-time'.

Chihuahuas are actually very smart and the conventional way of training with rewards works excellent.

What kind of training were you looking for?

Yes, of course you can train a chihuahua. Just like you can train any other dog.
