I paid $200 for it just over 2 months ago- and I use all the thermal protectants and all! Does this not happen to anyone else?

New appliances just smell like that. They need to be plugged in for awhile before the smell of burning goes away. You can also take a moist towel and wipe down the hot plates after you unplug it.

purchase a Chi and not the rest. I spent $one hundred on it even with the undeniable fact that it is well worth it. The others that sell for decrease priced don't get warm adequate. additionally, ensure you purchase a Salon high quality spray once you straighten your hair. you may reason extreme injury and not using a sturdy spray. I made the errors of identifying to purchase a decrease priced o hair straighten and that i finished up throwing it away.

well put on some leave on conditioner or oil or something. i recommend highly BioSilk. its amazing!!! also, dont leave the straightener on one part of the hair for a long time or turn down the heat or buy a more quality straightener.

If cleaning it when it's off and not hot with windex does not work, then unfortunately you'll have to buy another straightener.
