If you are a woman of color, like myself, you should try: PhytoSpecific hair relaxer. It comes in different formulas for all types of ethnic hair types.

And really, it works wonderfully. It's a $60 box of perm, but it's worth it.

Just type: 'phytospecific hair relaxer' in your google search engine, and go from there!

Wish ya the best!

Well I'm assuming that you have black kinky hair- so my answer is based on that premise. The first thing I would suggest is that you know what type of hair you have- eg. Fine or coarse, as this would determine the type of product you should buy. Very coarse hair would not respond well to a milder relaxer/perm cream.

Personally, I’ve found that Soft & Beautiful by pro-line (for coarse hair) works well. I’ve also found that Motions gets my hair really straight. In addition, you should try to use the complete range of products depending on which perm set you’re using e.g. If you’re using Soft & Beautiful- follow up with the shampoo and conditioner and perm repair etc.

If you’re tying to perm your hair at home, it may be that you’re not using the correct hair dryers or straightening irons after you’ve completed the perming process. The heat when applied to your hair- will straighten out the ends and help with frizzy hair. Further, when you’ve done applying the relaxer/perm cream and washing it out- ensure that when you roll your hair- do it in very small sections and ensure that it’s wrapped smoothly around the rollers/curlers. Try not to use small curlers/rollers if your hair is very long.

Finally, just follow the directions in the perm kit, and ensure that you leave in the cream for the required amount of time and wash it out thoroughly- as leaving it in for too short a time will mean that your hair will not be straight- alternatively if you leave it in too long it may burn you and over process your hair.

Oh- if all else fails- go to a professional hair dresser. Hope this helps. :)

next time start with the ends. it hasn't been left on the ends long enough.

if you don't leave it on the scalp long enough the first time it won't straighten out over time. it needs more product and to be pulled with the comb to straighten it.

dark and lovely isn't a very strong relaxer, either. your hair might need something stronger.

and if you are tender headed - get over it.

try having it professionally straightened or use gel or pomade on it and a flat iron
