When I was 30 weeks and then again on my due date my vision was blurred only on the left side that lasted for about 45 min. During this time my thumb and index finger went numb and it slowly spread from my fingers and up my arm. Till eventually my face fell slightly numb. (Like when you've had too much to drink) I had a CAT scan(by the time I got there the symptoms were gone.)They found only a low flow of blood in the vein in my sinus passage. Which I was told it could not have caused my syptoms.
The last time it happened (on my due date) They told me to go home I was having a maigraine and the numbness was from baby pressure. I had no headache, and wouldn't I have been Numb ALL the time because I was 40 wks?!
Any answers? Can you have a migraine without a headache?! With a mini stroke there would be no brain damage visable on a CT right?!

A migraine can have some similar symptoms to a stroke (eg dizzyness, vomiting, blurred vision, weakness etc) and a stroke will casue a migraine but not vice versa. Basically if you are getting them to such a crippling level with the bad symptoms you describe then you definately need to get checked out. If it was a one off event you could ignore it, the fact its repeated means theres an underlaying cause that has not been resolved.

It may have been the usual pressure build up on the nerve endings.Sometimes with Migraine the pain is minimal ,at that stage its touch and go as to whether it goes to a complete migraine, its possible to ward it off with relaxation techniques and painkillers .Any brain bleed would show up on a cat scan ,if they needed to double check it they would.I have heard in some instances that migraine has been suspected in the possible cause of brain bleeds.I think your doctor would be careful in this situation ,go back again even if its only for reassurance.Lindsay.

i don't think it's possible to have a migraine without the head hurting. after all, it is a migraine headache. anyway, i don't think you had a stroke either. sometimes when you are that far along the baby can lay on a vein or artery that carries blood to a particular region. it will cause numbness. that is probably what you experienced.

If there were no positive findings in CAT Scan, and no headache, you can convincingly rule out Migraine. YOU ARE PERFECTLY NORMAL, ENJOY LIFE AND BE THANKFUL.
