I married a military guy 17 years ago. That means I have never lived in the same town as any of our family since then. I don't really object to my family being concerned or interested in my life, I just don't want their interference. Being several hundred miles away from them tends to keep that from happening beyond a reasonable level. I don't see me ever living in the same town or even region with them.

I am so glad there are others out here like me. What I mean by that is that I have such a hard time dealing with my family relay more my mom that if I did not have this to take my mind off of things that I would go out of my mind.

I think everyone needs their peace and time away from things. This is the only time we can really refresh our soul and Spirit. If you don't give yourself that opportunity, you can become so overwhelmed and discouraged that will lead to stress. Unfortuently that will have you end up making bad decisions or saying and acting in ways you normally wouldn't while not stressed and that will hurt those you love more. So I think it is very important for anyone in any relationship to have time to collect their thoughts and rejuvenate from life itself. Goodluck!

Sure do! I met and married a man totally different than my past 3 husbands...(don't laugh, they were verbably, emotionally and physically abusive) Hubby #4 is do different. He's a "bad" boy! done time in prision, done drugs ( only bad habit now is tooo much coffee!) he's so loving and wants so much for us. my daughters won't have anything to do with him. my parents are reserved to getting close to him, my siblings are the same. why can't they understand, this is my life. he's good to me and good for me, shouldn't that be the only concern.

Nope, my family knows better than to try and get up in my business. I have no problem telling them how it is and we all know it.
