My husband will be medically discharged from the Navy soon and I want to know what type of employment he should be looking for. He has security clearance and not a lot of sea time. He would prefer to not be employed by the government.

NOAA, NGS, and other agencies would love to have him. Also, look to universities with research projects based oceanside. Another great place for ST's is in the defense industry, as well as medical industry. A sonar isn't too far off from a sonogram, really.

If he wants to go to sea, perhaps in the same field in the merchant marines. Of course, that would take time away from family. Good luck to you folks.

Depending on the status of his clearance (what level and when it expires) he can apply for just about any government contractor.
