Yes, it is widely used to honour the Prophet (peace be upon him) not for any other ulterior motives for there is no worldly distinctions that could be gained by using the Prophet's name. Usually it would be placed at the beginning of the name, i.e. Muhammad Aidil Taufil and FYI, Muslims cant use the name "Abdul Muhammad" for "Abdul" means slave or servant. Muslims can only use "Abdul" when followed by any of God's 99 Beautiful Names, i.e. Asma ul Husna like "Abdullah" which means servant of God, "Abdul Rahim" for servant of The Merciful, and so forth. The difference in the spelling is as you thought, largely due to regional factor. Muslims in Malaysia would generally spell it "Muhammad" while elsewhere "Mohammad", "Mohammed" or "Muhammed" may be used. Nonetheless, the pronunciation would normally sound similar.
Peace and Love

Islam's prophet is Mohammad as you know so it is only natural that Mohammad is a common name.
1) It is done to honor the prophet and also because his name is very beautiful in meaning
2) It does matter where mohammad is placed. It cannot be in a name like Abdul Mohammad because such a name doesn't even exist. Mohammad is a single name and cannot be added to others.
3) I would say that it is a regional difference but you have to remember that this is just in English. In Arabic of course, it is spelled the same way. Even when it is spelled differently in English, it is said the same way.
I hope I've helped and I hope I haven't been racist,
Take care.

In a way it is done to honor the prophet, and it's a popular name. there's no benefit whatsoever..
It doesn't make a difference where the name is placed but it is prohibited to name someone Abdul Mohammed.. because Abdul means the salve of... and it is usually linked to the name and qualities of God ( He has 99 names that we know of )
it is spelled differently because.. well it's normal ..it's like Shawn, Sean.. you know what I mean?
Like people spell Ahmed, Ahmad..so it's just different spelling specially that it is an Arabic name being translated to English. Both spellings are right but Mohammed is more accurate..
it isn't a religious difference..

This is a very special name so muslims give their children.
The correct way of spelling is Muhammed, an Arabic name...
There isn't a difference but everyone pronounces in a different way according to their mother languages. The other names you have given are different middle names that are also used the call that person.

Mohammed is the most common variant of the Muslim Prophet's name.... Muhammad was a religious, political, and military leader who established Islam and the Muslim community.
According to Islamic traditions, Muhammad began receiving revelations from God (Arabic: Allah) from the age of 40, delivered through the angel Gabriel over the last 23 years of his life. The content of these revelations, known as the Qur'an, was memorized and recorded by his followers and compiled into a single volume shortly after his death. The Qur'an, along with the details of Muhammad’s life as recounted by his biographers and his contemporaries, forms the basis of Islamic theology. Within Islam, he is considered the last and most important prophet of God.

that isn't any secret muslims were instructed to out-breed us by technique of imams. Islam has a globalisation time table, sharia coming quickly to a city close to you. that is terrifying for the destiny because that is not lengthy earlier the indigenous inhabitants are the minority of their own usa.

because all Muslims love him very much..and parents chose names they love ..
All praises and thanks be to Allah, the Creator of mankind, jinns and all that exists. The greatest thing that Allah (God) has offered humanity is that He provided them messengers chosen from among the best of their kind.
He disclosed and conferred upon man the Revelation to guide everyone towards the truth, the straight path, as well as warn and deliver people from falsehood and evil, such that they would seek alone His pleasure and satisfaction in pursuit of Paradise. Since time immemorial, Allah (God) sent Prophets after Prophets, messages after messages --- dating from Noah to Abraham, Moses, Jesus (Peace be upon them) and culminating with the seal of them all, Muhammed (peace and blessings be upon him), who came to confirm not only the previous messengers but especially that of the universal message which calls people to worship the Creator alone.
The authentic biography of the noble Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) is distinctly clear, realistic and complete, in fact, fundamentally transparent. It is so explicitly chronicled that every minute detail of his life is commented upon to such an extent that after reading it, one seems to entertain the idea of having met and lived with the Prophet (peace be upon him) himself. Likewise, it is so thoroughly dynamic that almost every available aspect of human life possible has been covered.
Most of all, it is so veritably recounted that every human being from all walks of life can relate and identify with it. His sorrows and joys, successes and failures are so real, inspiring and uplifting that they find semblance in our very own lives, too. Through it all, you can see his relationship with God, his dealings with his fellowmen, his own private and personal life---whether being a husband, father, brother, friend, neighbor, leader, etc. In whichever aspect of his life, he is every inch the epitome of a complete human model or example, a distinction which can be concluded from his entire life story and one that is definitely resolved, bolstered and galvanized by the Revelation of God itself.
