I mean if a gun was held at your spouse's head and you had the choice of watching him/her die or denouncing your faith in Christ, what would you do and why?
Since my signifigant other is a Christian (and so am I), I know where we will spend eternity. I am just curious as to how many of you out there would willingly and perhaps literally die for Christ.

That is a very hard question for most Christians to answer, but I would have to say that I would not renounce my faith in Christ, even if it meant my life or the lives of others. "Fear not him who can kill the body, but then is left with only your body, but fear Him who can kill both body and soul in Hell." When the situation calls for it, we as Christians are obliged to follow Christ to the cross if necessary. We should consider ourselves as dead men already in this current body. If we make the choice to save our relatives and renounce our faith, we may live for a little bit longer, but then die anyway, and furthermore lose our salvation. On the other hand, if we choose to keep the faith and hold fast to Christ, and they kill our loved ones, we have the reassurance in the knowledge that both we and our relatives will be resurrected into an eternal, perfect physical body free from imperfections, as Christ's was when He rose from the dead. Our reward in Heaven will be great, and the enemies who killed our relatives will be destroyed, if they did not repent. We need to keep a God's-eye view of the situation, and not cling to the world and this temporary life.

Plenty of people are willing to die for Christ. But I don't thing Christ is an advocate for stupidity. If the lives of my loved ones hinged on a few words, then you bet your sweet bippy, I'll say them.

Remember, Christ knows what's in our hearts long before we pray for it, so I'm sure He'd recognize what was going on here. And surely He'd forgive one for denouncing Him and risking our own souls to save that of others.

Well we could all say "yes" I would die or let a loved one die rather than denounce Christ.......but would we really ???

That's a tough one. If we did die for Christ the reward would be "GREAT".

I can tell you this... it would be easier for me to die than to let someone I love die.

I hope that no one has to go threw that, but if we did I hope we could have the strength to die for our beloved Jesus.
I love Him SOooo much & depend on Him intirely and just couldn't live with out having my Jesus in my life.

GREAT QUESTION !

God Bless & keep the Faith

I've talked about this before with my family. My mom wants me to say I will always believe in Jesus because her faith will get her to heaven. It would be so hard to do because I have a little girl too. Now if I had the gun to my head i would say i still believe.

I wouldn't die for Christ (since I am a nonbeliever in Christ). I would die for my family.

I would certainly renounce any faith to save my family. God knows what I beleive. He wouldn't need me to say so. My God demands no sacrifice, praise, falling on knees, etc.

There is nothing which would bring me to denounce my faith in Jesus the Christ. The faith was built on the blood of martyrs. YBIC

I would denounce anything if it meant saving anybody"s life. It could even be a stranger as far as I am concerned.

how could we stand unashamed before God if we put our family above Him?

Of course, God's forgiveness is great and if He forgave Peter (who denied Him three times to save His own skin) then He certainly can and would forgive those who denounce their faith in such a circumstance.

But Jesus says that if you are ashamed of Him and His words, then He will be ashamed of you when you stand before Him. What a terrifying thought!!

may god give his people strength to stand!!!

god bless

My beliefs do not require sacrifice or spoken loyalty - they are what they are, and no words would change that.

I'd say anything I needed to keep my family safe, fervently and emphatically and without hesitation.

The Tao does not judge.

you'd have to be pretty mixed up to allow a loved one to die for faith. you could always denounce it and rationalize later that you were sorry and have faith again.
