It depends on how long labor is progressing. She should never be having contractions and actively pushing for more than one hour, if she has been you must get her to a vet NOW! If you notice the contractions stopping between pups, they should start again within 2 hours.

It has been a full day since the first pup came out? I would go to a vet... One hour of contractions without a puppy is an emergency... more than 3 hours between puppies is an emergency...
How many pups did she have so far? Do you know how many she still has to go? I would be very worried if it has been 24 hours... I would have been worried at 9 hours. Labor is very difficult, it consumes a lot of energy... Long labors can happen, it's tough to say without all of the details... exactly how long she's been in labor, how many pups she's had, average time between pups, how exhausted she appears, how well she is caring for the pups, etc.
If it has been 12 hours I would, at the very least, call a licensed vet...

My dog had puppies for three days!!! She had like 13 puppies and had one like every 4-6 hours. Call your local vet, they told us that if she went more than 4 hours without having a puppy to call them. we eventually had to take her in to get a shot that will help the contractions bring them out more quickly. Kind of like a petocin for dogs. You do have to watch carefully and stay awake with her in case she starts having difficulties and one gets stuck coming out, sounds gross but it does happen. Good Luck :)

Expect one pup every 45 to 60 minutes with 10 to 30 minutes of hard straining. It is normal for your dog to take a rest partway through delivery, and she may not strain at all for up to 4 hours between pups. If she is seen straining hard for over an hour, or if she takes longer than a 4-hour break, consult a veterinarian.
