You will definitely need the poofy slip underneath for the dress to keep its shape... But as for the corset, you don't really need it. I didn't wear one under my dress...I didn't even wear a bra!! Try on your dress again to better determine what you need under there...

Okay...now, I've never been married, but the dress I wore for my senior prom sounds similar to your wedding dress (and in fact, will be my own wedding dress in just a few years time).
First of all, you're right. A corset, while sexy for something under a wedding dress, is probably unneccessary, unless you've bought the dress a size too small (you don't sound dumb enough to do that, so we'll just ignore that idea all together). The slip is probably useless, too...I mean, my dress was ivory and I wore bright red panties! No one saw anything, and that's in a prom dress. Wedding dresses, especially ones from David's Bridal, are bound to be better made than that. However, if you're going traditional, and your new husband is going to be searching under there for your garter, I'd say go for another layer and make it that much more challenging.
But, the point is: it's YOUR wedding, YOUR wedding attire. YOU make the choices, so if you're sure you don't want any of that under your dress, take them back and say you're not pleased with the selection. Then go buy a nice, lacy strapless bra and panty set and call it a honeymoon.

Unless you are willing to risk falling ot of the dress, or unless it has a bodice specifically stiffened to hold you, then wear the corset!!!!!! The only way to be sure a strapless bra will work is to wear it with the dress for a good hour or so while you move around. If you're tugging it back into place, use the corset. As for the crinoline skirt, I'm also getting married in July (congrats, BTW) and I'm going to wear a hoop skirt. They come with a crinoline over them to make it smooth, but they give you lots of air circulation underneath. You don't need anything making a July wedding any stuffier! That crinoline they gave you is nice, and great for fall/winter, but not in July. You can get hoop skirts on Ebay for about $25 including shipping through the angelsbridal Ebay store...this is where mine is coming from. If you search 'hoop skirt' under clothing they will come up in Ebay. You'll want a 2 or 3 bone (bone is the term for the hoop) skirt for an A-line dress, but you can consult with the seller for mor info.

You should wear one even though you don't need it for shape b/c it keeps the dress in shape. My sister in laws sister just got married and wore a silimar dress *it was even from davids!* and she only wore a strapless bra. In every picture the gown in bunching up. It made it look like she had tummy rolls even though she doesnt have an inch of fat on her entire body! The worst pictures were when she was sitting or leaning forward. Try this: go to davids and try on a sample of your gown with and without the corset. Then move all around like you will at your wedding. pay close attention to the way the material will bunch without the undergarments. BTW, a Long line bra will do the same thing as a corset. It just wont cut off your air supply!

David's Bridal does tend to do that. With the corset, no you probably don't need it. Corsets will tuck in your tummy and push up your boobs...if you don't feel like you need that done, then a corset is unnecessary. You might need a long line strapless bra if your dress dips down in the back, but otherwise a regular strapless bra will work fine. Or, you can go completely without. Or, you can have bra cups sewn into the inside of the dress.
The crinoline you might need. Even if your dress has fluffy layers underneath, it won't fall right without the rims of the crinoline to support it.

I went to David's so I know the stuff you're talking about.
If you don't want to wear the corset you don't have to. It's plain, yeah, but personlly I feel sexier in it than in just a strapless bra.
As far as the poofy slip, I'd keep that one. While you're dress doesn't need that fluff right now, through you're wedding & reception the extra fluff in the slip will help the dress to keep it's shape. I refused to wear one with my prom dress (lame example, I know, but it works) because my dress was already poofy enough. Well, an hour into wearing my dress it was flat. My wedding dress has tons of poof, but I'm still doing the slip just to ensure it stays that way.

Congratulations! I would suggest that you wear the slip that they gave you. If you don't, the dress will not hang right on you. Those actually make the dress look better. As for the corset...they have the same kind of thing at Walmart stores. They are a lot cheaper, and actually comfortable. I wouldn't go without one though, because you need something to keep your dress in place.

I only wore a strapless bra!! And it was fine, I also didn't want the extra fluff that would have been added by a slip, try your dress on again, make sure you are happy with how it looks without the slip and if you are, then take it back!! I just wore blue underwear!! :-)
It is your wedding and if you don't want to wear something don't!!

no you don't have to wear it, thats one thing I hated about davids bridal is they forced me into all that stuff...I don't want a puffy dress, and they were forcing me to get the look of something I didn't want. fancy panties and a strapless bra are fine! I'm not even gonna mess with a bra with my dress b/c its heavily boned and very well constructed with lots of beading and I'm not really "blessed" anyway! Don't listen to the witches at Davids, they are awful, and I refused to buy anything from them...some girl probably needed a little more in commision the day you bought it! You do what you want, the only person who should ever really know is the groom! haha!

Wear the extra slip - you will be glad you did as the day goes on. About the corset - if it's comfy enough, wear it - you'll feel sexy as all get-out and surprize your husband later!
By the by, Congrats - and your choice of wedding gown is absolutely beautiful!

Well first of all your dress is so pretty! =]
If you dont want to wear a corset, then dont!!! My mom didnt wear one, BUT like someone before me said, in pictures it looks like you have some rolls/love handles. I would recomend it for the ceremony and for the pictures [like if you decide to take profesional pictures at the park ect.] but for the dance, take a strapless and have your mom or MOH help you change.
Either way im sure you'll look beautiful!!!
