I know 'Taco Bell' is not Mexican food and far from it, but I have heard some people before say it is and I just wanted to see how many people actually believed that.

Heck no it's not!!! It's an Americanized version of what some idiot thought was Mexican food. I've had REAL Mexican food (dated a Mexican guy) & Taco Bell isn't even CLOSE in comparison! hahahaha :-p

No not by a long shot, but if you're on the east coast chances are that you have never had REAL Mexican food, if theres a Baja Fresh around you, I would go there, it's closer to the real deal then Taco Bell and better too. Real Mexican food is not that simple and diluted, I've never been to a Mexican food restaurant that used ground beef in a taco, or even those crunchy shells, the tortillas are home made and they have real salsa ( not that crap in the ketchup packet ). I was fortunate enough to have been raised in San Diego CA, and have a Hispanic father, so I don't care very much for Taco Bell, However my husband who was born and raised in Ohio prefers Taco Bell over the real deal ( even when it's home made) So I guess it's all a matter of taste, and preference. I hope that this answered your question. :)

I think Taco Bell is Mexican inspired. But authentic? Never.

The real questions is "do you think Taco Bell food is real food?"!!!

If you're someone who considers McDonalds to be a good example of American food, or Pizza Hut to be great Italian food, then it's not worth the argument...

It's "Americanized" Mexican food. It's definitely not real Mexican food.
But then most foods have an origin from somewhere else.
People get a hold of a recipe and will put their own ethnic spin on it.

No. The best Mexican food is made by actual Mexicans. It's really spicy too.

Sometimes I buy a Taco Bell taco, unwrap it, and toss it straight into the toilet. That's where it will be in a few minutes anyway.
This action though, saves me 15 minutes of stomach ache, and serves to remind me that my life could be much worse.

Not even close!! Taco TIME is a little better, but it still doesn't taste anything like a good mexican restaurant (even though it costs as much!).
