Did the decent of the Holy Ghost prevent further possession or is demonic possession still possible? Would someone who contains the Holy Ghost be able to be possessed? I have no particular reason in mind for these questions, just curious.

Demonic possession still occurs today. You will find it quite prevalent in thrid world countries. Here in America, we medicate those who are seriously distrubed. But there is still possession taking place. If you are filled with the Holy Spirit I believe it is impossible for a person to be demonically possessed. They could be oppressed, but not possessed. It is impossible for an evil spirit and a holy Spirit to be in the same vessel. As a minister, my husband and I have dealt with some of these possessed people over the years. Some were set free by prayer and fasting.

Personally - I believe that being filled with the Holy Spirit prevents demonic posession. When you are in that state of being (a true, following Christian) your defenses are much better in regards to anything demonic.

I do believe there are still posessions today. I think that most schitzophrenics (NOT ALL) that have multiple personalities are in fact posessed by something.

I also think that demons influence all people, even Christians on a daily basis. So not only do we have to fight against our own flesh and blood (sin nature), we also have to protect ourselves from the demonic.
