There are no problems with consulting the Bible. The Bible is God's Word for mankind. It is a perfect guide. If all went by the Bible, there would be no wars, divorce, lung cancer from cigarettes, murder, and other such things.
Jesus Christ quoted the Bible many times. For instance, when confronted by the Bible, Jesus said: "It is written," then he quoted Scripture. That is a fine example for us.
The Bible does not contradict itself.

A more challenging question would be "What are the problems of NOT consulting the Bible?" Most of the problems people have today arise because they never consulted the Word of God, or, if they knew what it advised, refused to carry its counsel out.
As for contradictions; consider them an exercise in thinking problems through. It soon dawns on thinking persons that there are few black and white, clear-cut issues in the Bible, and that God wants us to grow up and become responsible for our choices. For us humans to accuse God of penning contradictions is very much a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Consult whatever you want, if you have a problem to do with religion, you will find the answer you are looking for there, you can translate it to mean whatever you want to believe! If you cant find the answer you are looking for in the Old Testament, read through the New Testament.
Its some thing like doing research on the Internet, you can find the answer you want to find, doesn't mean the answer is the truth but you will find the answer you are searching for eventually, and you can choose to believe it or not.
Where does the bible contradict its self???
Just as an example type that question into your search engine, you will find more details than I have room to print out here.

There's no problem consulting the Bible but unless you know exactly where to look it may take a considerable time.

There are provable contradictions, deletions, insertions, misinterpretation, and historical errors within the Bible. Those who research such things in an academic fashion have produced endless works of interpretation that challenge Bible truth`. Believers as you know are strongly averse to reading scientific material, it frightens them, makes them feel insecure. The flock mentality always prevails, believers are scared of doubt, research is doubt incarnate, the Bible is safe and fictional.

Depends what your problem is and whether you land on the right set of verses. The bible is full of contradictions - best thing is to sit quietly and wait for God or whoever you believe in to speak within you (oh yes...it really happens). You can buy bible quides or many bibles will have an index at the back with dozens of topics which can help you find the bit you're looking for. But like I say - in the end - it's that still small voice that we all have within us that really shows us the light.

Sometimes, letting go seems like the easiest thing to do. But think about this: you've invested so much of your time and energy into another person; you've made a solemn promise; and you still know there's love, even if it's hiding underneath the surface. This website will show you how to save a marriage and avoid divorce, even if you're the only one trying https://tr.im/VtHvK

Do you mean closing your eyes, pointing to a page, and opening your eyes to read it? Silly.
The Bible is a very incomplete, albeit good, book. But it is not the be-all and end-all to morality. In fact, it is at best just a guide to some older ways of thinking that may in fact be obsolete in our world today. Not all things; but some. It is meant to be a guide and not a fortune telling device; that is why some people do not rely on it solely.
There are many confusing ways and passages in the Bible, and also it takes scholars to read and interpret it; some of whom do not agree on it.

There is no problem using the scriptures to help solve a problem, but you must be careful. Like the man who wanted to know what God wanted him to do. He opened his Bible, closed his eyes, and pointed to a scripture which said, "And he went out and hanged himself". He thought, I'll try again. So he opened it up, closed his eyes, and pointed to another scripture. It said, "Go and do likewise". He thought, this is terrible, but I'll give it one more chance. He went through the ritual and this time the scripture said, "What thou doest, do quickly". He decided to become an atheist. Read the Bible everyday, and read it until God gives you something that speaks to you. It may require reading one chapter or ten chapters but make a habit of it. Then when you have a problem, He will bring the scriptures to your mind that you have read that deal with that specific problem. BTW, there are no contradictions.

Ther are no problems with consulting the bible. Just open it and point. The miracle of faith will ensure that you receive the correct advice. On the other hand, consulting entrails is more difficult, they are not so easy to obtain and the language is more obscure but they are just as effective. Whatever you consult, it will help you to concentrate and find the answer in your own head.
