Sorry, I don't know much about compuetrs but I need to copy a small accounting program I use for company invoices onto a new computer I just bought. What's the best way to get this done safely? Thanks much!!!

You have to install it from the original install disk.

Only installing on one PC, as another person mentioned, is not an issue here if you are getting rid of the old computer and moving everything to the new.

transfering a program from computer to computer is almost impossible these days (it was easy enough in the DOS days) because of all the different auxillary files installed in different places. You can mirror the whole hard drive from one computer to another (they make programmes to do just that)

You are going to have to reinstall the programme from scratch, and then you can insert the "data" files by copying them over.. but you will have to know what they are called and where they are, and they will need to be the same on the new computer

you cannot transfer a program from PC to PC
You have to re-install the program into the new PC

Usually you need to but another copy of the program, the copyright enable you to use it only in 1 PC

USB flash drive
it is about $20 to $50 on Staples

just plug the flash drive on the USB on the first computer and then send the data into the flash drive and plug it in the other computer where you can access it.

it is not permanent in the flash drive so you can delete the data once you don't need it anymore

get a usb flash device or simply burn the install file unto a cd and install it into the other computer
