All kinds of opinions on the subject I'm sure.
I think most of it is just coincidence.

Mostly what's going on is that when you have a feeling, and you are able to interpret it as a premonition of something, you pay attention and remember it. When you have the same kind of feeling and nothing happens, you forget all about it.
Billions of things happen to us every day: you're just doing the normal human "making meaning of random events" thing when you think you're having "premonitions".

Instincts are a powerful things. Also, I've dreamed of David Duchovny and then I've seen him on a television show. Premonition? I think not. Just the random misfirings of my neurons and the strange way that my subconscious interprets these misfirings into images and stories.

Fires happen all the time. As do car accidents - and almost-accidents are even MORE common. And if you're driving, you're likely to imagine problems that could come up.
Premonitions aren't supernatural, and they are just coincidences when they happen. How many things happened to you today that you DIDN'T forsee? How about in the world in general? Yeah, just conincidence.

Your conscious mind may not have seen the possibility of a truck you wouldn't see until it was too late, but your subconscious is smart enough to make up for that and warned you.
As for the fire dream, that's not that improbable...

Chance. We have premonitions constantly but only remember the ones that are correct not the millions of them that are wrong. Every time I ride my motorcycle I picture myself crashing at every corner and intersection but I have never crashed.

Atheism is simply a lack of belief in gods. There is no "atheistic view" on anything other than that the evidence is insufficient for justifying a belief in gods.

The human brain can be very odd. You can see an image very much identical to what you're about to face because of past images and actions.
