Hi, my mom says that I eat far less than 1200 calories a day. I don't agree with her, I'm not like anorexic or something, I just don't have an appetite. For example, this is what I ate today:
Breakfast: One cup of tea with two teaspoons of sugar, two boiled eggs and a small peace of bread...2*2 inches.

Lunch: Three steaks...about 3*3 inches, and some salad
then I drank a cup of tea with two teaspoons of sugar.

I didn't have dinner, but I drank a cup of milk and cocoa with two spoons of sugar.
Do you think that's less than 1200? ......I highly doupt it :)
How many calories do you estimate are there in the food I ate today?

Thanks in advance!!

I'm not starving myself on purpose. It's not a trich question. I don't measure what I eat, this is the first time I do it and I'm not anorexic.

You are eating FAR less than you should and most of the calories you consume are in sugar. You are getting virtually no nutrition and probably destroying your body with the sugar and lack of vitamins, fiber and other important nutrients. I strongly suggest that you ask your mom to take you to a doctor or nutritionist to help you plan your meals better. And definitely, as others have said, lay off the sugar!
You can go to sparkpeople.com and register for free. They have a section where you can put in everything you eat for the day and it will figure out your calories, fiber etc.. This will give you an idea on how well you are eating for the day. There are also numerous other things on this site such as exercise plans, weight trackers, forums etc.. Maybe your mom could sign up too and you could plan your meals together. I put in your foods for the day listed above and it only came out to 896 calories for a day!

That is seriously dangerous. Of course this is approximate because your list above dosn't have exact portions and exact types of food. Try doing it yourself with your days menu and finding out how many calories you ate, then you can show your mom for yourself.

Here is a summary

I'm not sure what "three steaks" would be equivalent to in terms of calories. I mean, when I think "steak," I'm picturing a huge slab of beef -- is that what you're talking about? That said, unless you are eating about 700 calories worth of steak at lunch, you are definitely eating fewer than 1200 calories per day. Your breakfast is about 300, and a cup of milk and cocoa with sugar is probably around 150.

But, more importantly, you are definitely not eating a well-balanced diet, which is a better thing to focus on than the number of calories you are taking in. Your breakfast is pretty good (about 300 calories there and the eggs are good for you), but you need to eat something for dinner as well. Focus on lean meats, lots of fruits and vegetables, and more whole grains!

Well, it's isn't good to be eating less calories than the recommended amount. First off, I don't think you're going about this right. At 13 years old you are still growing, and most girls go through a "bulky" period right before they go through a major growth spurt. You're weight is completely normal, anyway. I'm 14 and I am 5'3 and a half and I weigh 127, but it fluctuates up to 132 and down to 125. If you're really looking to lose a few pounds I would suggest weight lifting and jogging.

Well, with all that meat you probably consumed near 1200 calories. Your biggest concern shouldn't be your amount of calories, but WHAT you are eating. Your diet isn't bad, but it isn't perfect either. It needs to be more well-bablanced. Where is the fruit? You need about 5 serving of fruit & vegetables a day... you ate only one. You have a lot of protein which is okay, but a little too much red meat. Try fish, beans or brocolli instead. Plus, all that refined sugar isn't good for you. Sweeten your tea with 1 tsp. of natural honey instead.
A cup of cocoa for dinner?... BAD! Try a lighter lunch and a more satisfying dinner... again, opt for fish or chicken with veggies. Simply, avoid eating a large dinner or snacking LATE at night.

Also, are you drinking herbal (non-caffinated) tea? Too much caffine otherwise. I hope you are drinking a lot of water too. This is very important.

I would say your right around the 1200 calorie mark..

Im not sure if your trying to loes weight but I just want to let you know that with every cup of tea you have 2 tsp of sugar... you should either replace that with a sweetner such as splenda or cut it out completly...sugar is very very bad when it comes to dieting.

Someother tips are... the eggs will be healthier without yolks ( egg whites only )... and replace the steak with chicken or even a veggie burger

Goodluck!!

Hard to say because I don't know the size of the portions you are eating. If they are small, then yes it does sound a bit scarce. Here is a cool website that you can check out that will help you count calories. I also do not know your age or weight, but 1200 also sounds a bit low. If you are not dieting maybe you should eat like 1600 calories. Best thing would be to ask your family doctor though...

I would say you are well under 1200 calories. Most of what you have is protein and sugar. You might want to substitute your sugar for honey. Much better for you. You should at least have 5 servings of vegetables and fruit a day. This is to insure your healthy. Your mom is concerned about your health....Do you drink milk? You need calcium to ensure strong bones. Take vitamins if you are going to eat like a bird.

That is probably way less that 1200 calories. It honestly sounds like you are trying to starve yourself on purpose.

I guess 1000. Try a few more things, like visit the produce section and find some weird fruit to add in.
